Senior Graphic Designer
Hybrid | Reynoldsburg/Columbus, OH
Reports to: Senior Art Director
A leading personal care retailer is seeking a Senior Graphic Designer to help reimagine and elevate the future retail experience through innovative, customer-centric design. Reporting directly to the Senior Art Director, this highly visible role will contribute to large-scale brand transformation initiatives, store reinvention projects, and experiential retail concepts that influence how customers engage with the brand in physical environments.
This is a strategic creative role focused on concept development, visual storytelling, environmental graphics, and retail innovation. The ideal candidate brings senior-level conceptual thinking, a strong portfolio of brand-building work, and the ability to develop compelling creative solutions that inspire leadership and drive customer engagement. While an understanding of production processes is beneficial, this is not a production-focused position.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop breakthrough creative concepts that support brand evolution, retail transformation, and customer experience initiatives.
- Partner closely with the Senior Art Director to create innovative visual solutions that reenergize and modernize the brand.
- Generate multiple conceptual directions for campaigns, store experiences, environmental graphics, and experiential marketing programs.
- Create mood boards, inspiration boards, concept presentations, and visual narratives that influence strategic creative direction.
- Design impactful graphics that support store reinvention efforts, customer engagement programs, and large-scale retail environments.
- Translate brand strategy into compelling visual storytelling across physical retail touchpoints.
- Present creative concepts and recommendations to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Visual Merchandising, Marketing, Store Design, Creative, and Brand teams to ensure cohesive execution of retail experiences.
- Contribute to retail innovation projects, store testing initiatives, and future-state customer experience concepts.
- Maintain a high standard of design excellence while balancing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- 5–8+ years of graphic design, environmental design, experiential design, or retail brand design experience.
- Strong conceptual portfolio demonstrating brand-building, storytelling, and customer experience design.
- Proven ability to develop strategic creative solutions rather than simply execute production requests.
- Advanced proficiency in:
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe InDesign
- Strong understanding of typography, composition, branding systems, color theory, and visual communication.
- Experience creating and presenting multiple design directions supported by strategic rationale.
- Background within retail, consumer brands, experiential marketing, environmental graphics, or store design environments preferred.
- Experience developing graphics for large-scale retail environments, installations, wayfinding systems, or experiential spaces is highly desirable.
- Industrial design, environmental design, exhibition design, architectural graphics, or spatial branding experience is a significant plus.
- Exceptional presentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence creative direction through strong visual storytelling and conceptual thinking.
- Highly collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable navigating ambiguity while helping shape future-state creative solutions.
