Talon is a small business engineering firm providing innovative, end-to-end, rapid-turn solutions to our government and commercial clients. Founded in 2019, Talon employs over 150 Aerospace and Defense engineers and other support staff to solve complex engineering problems for a variety of applications to include aircraft, ballistics, cybersecurity, motorsports, armor development, biological systems, missiles, and warheads. Talon has an office in Tucson, AZ that is providing high fidelity computational models/analysis and technical services support to Fortune 500 companies.
This position is within the Engineering Services team at Spara Technologies, specializing in mechanical design engineering for harness and interconnect systems. It supports the development, fabrication, and validation of advanced harnessing solutions for precision-guided systems and actuation technologies, which are critical to our clients' missile defense and strategic programs (e.g., integration with guided missile platforms similar to the Standard Missile family or Tomahawk, enhancing air and missile defense capabilities). The role demands expert-level expertise in harness design and offers the opportunity to shape strategic initiatives across our innovative, fast-paced organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, assembly, and verification of harnessing systems, encompassing design, seamless integration, and rigorous testing for actuation and control applications in defense technologies.
- Apply strategic foresight to guide functional and organizational strategies within Spara's engineering division.
- Mentor and evaluate the contributions of fellow engineers in the harness and interconnect field, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Tackle complex challenges in high-impact settings to advance national security through cutting-edge missile and defense innovations.
- Operate independently with mastery in harness design, development, and verification, ensuring top-tier performance and reliability.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- At least 10 years of hands-on experience (or equivalent with an advanced degree) in mechanical engineering, with a focus on harness and interconnect design for aerospace or defense sectors.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related discipline (advanced degree highly preferred).
- In-depth mastery of harness and interconnect principles, including design for manufacturability, durability, and integration into sophisticated systems such as missiles.
- U.S. citizenship required; eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance (Secret or higher, given Spara's involvement in classified defense projects).
- Desired: Proficiency in agile methodologies, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and prior experience with missile or defense programs at leading defense firms.
