In this role, you will join the Honeywell Process Technology HSE Center of Excellence Team and impact our organization by providing technical leadership, direct functional oversight, and support for compliance programs and management systems across the Process Technology Business Group. Leadership accountability will be focused on driving environmental compliance improvements at all business locations to ensure full compliance with all governmental and Honeywell requirements. Your ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders will ensure that HSE considerations are integrated into business processes and decision-making, contributing to the overall success and reputation of our business as a responsible and sustainable organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner with business HSE resources to provide technical expertise on issues involving compliance with and interpretation of local and national environmental compliance requirements, environmental permits and regulations
Coach and mentor site environmental resources
Accountable for conducting periodic compliance reviews and audits of respective business sites to assure compliance with environmental management requirements and participating in HSEPS audit process
Participate in annual operating plans, strategic plans, and capital management plans for the business in support of HSE
Accountable for reviewing and communicating new legal and other requirements to the appropriate members of business and site leadership resources
In conjunction with HSE Leadership, represent Process Technology and the respective business sites in developing proactive & positive contacts with regulatory agencies (Federal & State) and industry advocacy groups
Co-accountable with business HSE leaders for assuring that Process Technology (PT) Sites fully implement required elements of the Honeywell/PT HSE Management
System, RC 14001, and other related activities related to compliant environmental programs.
Partner with business leadership and HSE professionals to drive continual improvement of environmental functional programs, procedures and performance.
Lead or participate in significant environmental related incident investigations and root cause analyses
Manage appropriate sections of Matirity Planning (self-assessments) and Compliance Assurance Letter process in support of plant leadership in the business
Assist in resolving potential environmental non-compliance and enforcement actions, and claims, disputes and litigation regarding HSE matters
Assess and interpret potential new rulemaking to determine Honeywell/Plant needed response as well as preparation activities for implementation
Travel to various sites across the business to support continuous improvement projects, audit preparation, and incident investigations (20%- 50% travel)
Provide technical guidance to international locations to ensure adherence to current regulations.
YOU MUST HAVE
7+ years of experience in environmental regulatory compliance within manufacturing, research and development, and/or field related businesses
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field or qualifications
Experience with preparing, submitting, and maintaining environmental permits, licenses, and reports for regulatory agencies (e.g., NPDES, Title V)
Experience with interpreting environmental regulations (e.g. Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, RCRA) and translating them into actionable policies and compliance tasks.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and strategic planning abilities
Proficient in general computer software use - word, excel, PowerPoint
WE VALUE
Advanced degree in engineering or HSE is preferred
Professional certifications such as Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), Registered Environmental Manager (REM), or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
Knowledge of and direct experience in HSE auditing, management systems, Responsible Care® and ISO 14001 is also a plus.
Thorough working understanding of US environmental protection laws & regulations is essential
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, verbally and in writing. Able to interact with plant floor employees as well as business and operations leaders to establish credibility and influence direction. Ability to train others is desirable.
Chemical plant and manufacturing experience
Passion for promoting a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
Strong business acumen and ability to align HSE engineering with organizational goals
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
