    Job Title:   HL7 / Interoperability Senior Engineer (W2 only)
    Location:  Indianapolis, hybrid

    Job Description: Theoris is looking for a senior-level technical contributor responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing, and supporting complex healthcare interoperability solutions. The role provides technical leadership across integration projects, serves as the primary escalation point for complex issues, mentors engineers and analysts, establishes engineering standards and best practices, and drives operational excellence across healthcare integration platforms.
     
    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Lead the design, implementation, and support of complex healthcare interfaces and interoperability solutions.
    • Design and review interface architecture, transformations, routing logic, SQL solutions, and application configurations.
    • Serve as the senior technical escalation point for production issues, interface failures, and data integrity concerns.
    • Perform advanced root cause analysis using interface engines, SQL, application logs, and debugging tools.
    • Lead technical planning and production readiness activities for high-risk implementations and enhancements.
    • Review and approve interface designs, technical specifications, mapping documents, and implementation approaches.
    • Develop and maintain engineering standards, reusable templates, documentation, and best practices.
    • Mentor Systems Integration Engineers and Analysts through coaching, peer reviews, and knowledge sharing.
    • Develop and deliver technical onboarding and training programs.
    • Identify opportunities for automation, performance optimization, process improvement, and technical debt reduction.
    • Collaborate with Product, Development, Infrastructure, Support, and Project Management teams to solve enterprise integration challenges.
    • Own customer issues through successful resolution.
    • Lead multiple complex technical initiatives concurrently.
     
    REQUIREMENTS:
    • Expert knowledge of HL7 v2.x healthcare messaging and interoperability standards.
    • Advanced experience with interface engines such as Mirth Connect, Cloverleaf, Rhapsody, or similar technologies.
    • Advanced SQL development, optimization, and troubleshooting.
    • Strong proficiency in:
      • Java
      • JavaScript
      • XML
      • JSON
      • REST APIs
      • Regular Expressions
    • Strong understanding of:
      • FHIR
      • C-CDA
      • Healthcare integration concepts
    • Experience with relational databases such as Oracle and PostgreSQL.
    • Mirth transformation development experience.
    • Advanced troubleshooting and exception management.
    • Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring experience.
    • Experience reviewing technical designs and establishing engineering standards.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and customer relationship management skills.
    • Ability to lead multiple complex projects simultaneously.
    • Experience developing training materials and delivering technical training.
    • Strong collaboration skills within cross-functional teams.
    • Experience leading or supervising small technical teams.
    • Healthcare industry experience.
    • Experience with HL7 message protocol implementations.
    • Knowledge of interface engines such as:
      • Mirth Connect
      • Cloverleaf
      • DataGate
    • Experience driving engineering standards, process improvements, and operational excellence.
