Position Overview

The Senior Manager of Transmission & Interconnection will lead the strategy and execution of generator interconnection for a utility-scale renewable energy portfolio. This role is critical for navigating the complex regulatory and technical landscapes of the MISO and PJM markets to ensure projects reach commercial operation on schedule and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Queue Management: Lead the submission and management of interconnection requests in MISO and PJM cluster study processes.

  • Strategic Planning: Identify low-cost, high-capacity grid areas for greenfield development by evaluating congestion patterns and basis risks.

  • Interconnection Agreements: Negotiate and manage Generator Interconnection Agreements (GIA) and amendments with ISOs and Transmission Owners (TO).

  • Technical Oversight: Review ISO-led interconnection study reports to identify errors or cost-saving alternative scenarios.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Represent company interests in ISO/RTO stakeholder meetings, tracking queue reforms and regional transmission planning changes.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with project developers and M&A teams to provide transmission insights for due diligence and project siting.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Experience: 5–10 years of experience in electrical power systems, specifically focused on generation interconnection.

  • Market Expertise: Deep knowledge of MISO and PJM interconnection rules, tariffs, and market structures.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with power flow modeling software such as PSSE, or/and TARA.

  • Soft Skills: Proven ability to communicate complex technical risks to non-technical executive leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Developer Experience: Previous experience working for a renewable energy developer (IPP), managing projects from land control through Notice-to-Proceed (NTP).

  • Industry Influence: Active participation in ISO/RTO task forces or regulatory advocacy groups.
