Overview: Interested in joining our Shipping/Receiving team? Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and being a team member? At TA Instruments the Inventory Control Specialist position is essential to our Distribution Team in order to ensure our world class customer service. Typical tasks of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform cycle counts and location checks then reconciliing discrepancies of materials as required to meet audit requirements.
  • Collaborate with purchasing and planning departments on problem solving receipt and production discrepancies.
  • Perform transactions in SAP to manage material movements and control inventory accuracy.
  • Manage slow moving materials to optimize location usage.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to maintain kanban levels and fulfill rush needs to avoid production shutdown.
  • Proper labeling and handling of inventory to reduce damage and maintain accuracy.
  • Collaborate with shipping coordinator acting as a backup. In this role you will be working with carriers, creating documents required for customs clearance and transacting shipments in SAP
  • Ability to use UPS, Fed Ex, Freight Forwarder and LTL carriers software to ship both domestic and export shipment
  • Understands incoterms and processes the documentation needed for export shipments.
The successful candidate will have a combination of knowledge, skills, and experience that would include the following:

 

  • Knowledge normally acquired through completion of a one (1) year certificate from college or technical school in general business, inventory control or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals in order to perform required tasks
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to key in data using computerized inventory management system (SAP)
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work activities to handle multiple assignments, problem solving
  • In performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs. 
  • Strong customer service skills to effectively work with customers, carriers and co-workers
  • Ability to operate a forklift /reach truck and pallet jacks safely.
