Be a member of the Tesla Commercial Energy Land Development Team, a cross functional "shared services" team that ensures the successful deployment of Tesla's commercial energy projects. You will support land survey and real estate aspects of our projects across all stages of development - starting with initial due diligence review during the sales phase, into design and permitting during the deployment phase, and through completion of construction.
This role is responsible for working with internal teams and external project stakeholders through the entire development cycle on the siting, design, and construction of utility and commercial battery storage, solar PV, microgrid, and charging projects. This role requires availability for travel (up to 10%) nationally and internationally (within North America).
Manage multiple projects through diligence, planning, and construction phases
Work with internal teams to define and solicit scopes of work from third party surveyors
Serve as in-house subject matter expert on survey/land rights considerations for project acquisition, design, and construction
Support preparation and submission of plat applications, easements, and encroachment agreements
Review survey deliverables and develop project basemaps
Review title reports/commitments and proactively communicate concerns to the project team
Represent Tesla in meetings and on project calls
Present to other team members and lines of business on survey issues
Manage the outsourcing of title reports, easement exhibits, boundary, ALTA, topographic, and underground utility surveys
Conduct field work and survey preparation as needed
Degree in related field, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 10 years' applied project experience
Registered and in good standing as a Licensed Surveyor (PLS); the ability to acquire a PLS in TX or CA within 6 months is preferred
Proficiency in Google Earth, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office, and AutoCAD Civil 3D software
Extensive experience with robotic total stations, GPS instruments, levels, and construction layout
Extensive experience with survey standards including ALTA/NSPS, NGS, FEMA, and ASCE 38-02/22
Expertise in geodetic surveying, datums, NSRS, grid/ground conversion, and coordinate projections
Experience managing external consultants and contractors through full land survey scopes
FAA part 107 drone license and scanner experience is preferred
Experience in multiple regions within North America is preferred
