Role Purpose: Applies subject matter expertise in laser system design and materials processing to support R&D projects in the application of new technologies to create and support new products and processes.
The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:
Design, optimization, and troubleshooting of laser systems to support R&D projects.
Develop and execute test plans for material process characterization and validation.
Required Education/Skills:
A Bachelor's Degree in an engineering/science discipline is required.
A minimum of 5 years prior hands-on laser system design and process characterization experience.
Strong knowledge of optical properties and laser physics is required.
Previous experience in the medical device industry is highly desirable.
Required Experience:
Experience designing and executing characterization test plans (e.g. DOE) for laser applications is required.
Solid comprehension of principles, theories, and concepts relevant to laser processing and general engineering.
Good problem-solving, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills.
Proficient computer skills including all major common software is required.
Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, etc.) is highly desirable.
Must be able to work in a team environment.
Must be self-motivated and able to independently lead and move projects forward.
Must be willing to perform hands-on duties in the lab.
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment.
Must have excellent communication skills.
