Research system ideas and draw up plans for these systems, and capture them in schematics and system specifications. Test, simulate, validate and qualify their systems and make adjustments as needed. Provide support throughout the manufacturing of the electrical systems they have designed.The Sr. Lead Engineer - Power Design works in cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations.Detailed DescriptionPerforms tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:Work with the guidance and support from Sr. Staff and Principal-level engineersDesign, develop and implement technical solutions for complex projects.Propose innovative solutions for performance, reliability, and features of system or product.Reviews and interprets customer specifications and may act as primary customer contact.Analyze trade-offs in complex systems and recommend solutions.Lead and manage schematic design, Bills of material, power tree, drawings, board layout, and cross-functional design reviewsLead power bring-up, debugging, and support for manufacturing assembly, and deploymentLead relationships with key vendors and partners.Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations, and share within teamLiaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.Analyze and create reports and documentation of specifications, design, testing, debugging, and etc.May be a recognized expert (go to person) in one or more technical areas.Refer to technical skills belowExperienced in power design of single/multi-phase DC/DC converter, point‑of‐load converter, LDO, MOSFETs, magnetics, hot‑swap circuitry of how‑swap controller, load switches, current sense circuit and amplifier, and etcExperienced in designing power systems for networking, compute, or storage productsExperienced in high‑current, low‑voltage power subsystems for CPU, GPU, ASIC, SoC, and FPGAExperienced in PCB stack‑up, power planes, and tools used to simulate voltage gradientsFamiliar with schematic capture and CAD layout tools or equivalent onesFamiliar with circuit simulation tools such as SIMPLIS, PSPICE, and LTSPICE, or equivalent toolsExperienced with power integrity tools such as PowerDC or equivalent and board level evaluationExperienced with design and troubleshooting of power management interfaces such as PMBus, AVS, SVID and SVI2/3.Experienced with defining specifications and validation of power connectors, cable assemblies and fusesFamiliar with NPI hardware design and deployment cycleExperienced with development of test automation for power validation that is a plus.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to present to various audiences effectivelyPhysical DemandsDuties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.Occasional travel may be required.Typical Experience4 to 6 yearsTypical EducationBachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.Educational Requirements may vary by GeographyNotesThis job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities of the position.
