We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Sr. Legal Director for a permanent position in our fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is an integral part of our leadership team and will play a vital role in overseeing all legal matters across the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring our company adheres to legal standards and in-house policies, managing external counsel and legal budget, and enforcing regulatory compliance. This role will also involve taking a proactive role in corporate governance and providing strategic legal solutions to complex business challenges.

Responsibilities:

1. Direct and oversee all legal matters within the organization, including contracts, partnerships, and agreements.
2. Ensure the company operates within the law at all times, offer counsel on legal issues, create an effective guardian of the organization and facilitate business strategies development.
3. Develop corporate policies and positions on legal issues, and guide management on regulatory and compliance issues to ensure compliance with legal regulations.
4. Draft and solidify agreements, contracts, and other legal documents to ensure the company’s full legal rights.
5. Manage external counsel and legal budget effectively.
6. Oversee and manage corporate governance procedures and ensure they comply with laws and regulations.
7. Provide clarification on legal language or specifications to everyone in the organization.
8. Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues.
9. Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authorities) creating relations of trust.

Qualifications:

1. Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
2. Active license to practice law in South Carolina.
3. A minimum of 5+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably in a corporate or in-house setting.
4. Proven experience as a legal counsel in the business environment.
5. Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures.
6. Full comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporation.
7. Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies.
8. High degree of professional ethics, integrity, and gravitas.
9. Excellent judgement, analytical skills, and the ability to think strategically.
10. Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
11. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
