Summary
We are seeking a senior-level Linux engineer to support a high-priority infrastructure remediation initiative within a regulated enterprise environment. This contract role focuses on accelerating vulnerability remediation and patching efforts across Linux and Windows server environments, with a strong emphasis on Linux operations, security hardening, and production support.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on infrastructure professional who can work independently, execute remediation efforts quickly, and help guide internal teams on Linux patching best practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead Linux and Windows vulnerability remediation and patching efforts.
- Perform Linux system administration, patching, hardening, and troubleshooting.
- Support production maintenance windows, including occasional after-hours or weekend work.
- Partner with infrastructure, network, and security teams to reduce cybersecurity risk.
- Assist with transitioning Linux patching responsibilities to the infrastructure team.
- Utilize tools such as Ansible and other automation platforms to improve remediation processes.
- Troubleshoot complex server and operating system issues.
- Support audit readiness and remediation tracking efforts.
Requirements- 5+ years of Linux systems administration or infrastructure engineering experience.
- Strong experience with Linux patching, vulnerability remediation, and system hardening.
- Experience supporting Windows server remediation initiatives.
- Experience in regulated or security-focused environments.
- Familiarity with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible.
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
- Equivalent experience accepted in place of a degree.
Bonus Skills- Experience with Tanium or enterprise patch management tools.
- VMware, datacenter infrastructure, or storage administration experience.
- Scripting experience with Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
- Experience supporting audit-driven remediation projects.
- AWS or hybrid cloud infrastructure experience.
