    Description

    Loss Control Consultant – Technical Property AccountsJob Responsibilities Conduct property loss control inspections of high‑hazard industries such as Oil & Petrochemical, Chemical, Power Generation, Pulp and Paper, Steel/Molten Metal, Electronics, and Process Industries.Evaluate sprinkler systems, building additions, fire alarm plans, and provide guidance to clients.Perform engineering account reviews for underwriters, attend client meetings, and deliver presentations.Maintain own schedule and write survey reports.Provide guidance to underwriting staff regarding risk quality and insurability.Update and maintain inspection record database.On‑site surveys and risk evaluation of existing and prospective Starr Tech clients (65%).Client meetings (10%), account management (10%), presentations (5%), and general consulting (10%).Travel primarily regional with 25‑40% overnight expected; remote position but must be within reasonable distance to the office for onsite visits.Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's of Science in an engineering discipline (chemical, mechanical, fire protection preferred).Minimum 10 years experience as an engineer in an Oil/Petrochemical, Midstream, or Chemical company, or in property loss control field inspections for an insurance, consulting, or brokerage firm.Technical knowledge of 29 CFR 1910.119 Process Safety Management required; ability to assess mechanical integrity, rotating and fixed equipment, breakdown & preventive maintenance, KPI, PHA, LOPA, SIF/SIL/SIS, PSSR, MOC, and related processes.Understanding of sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, process hazards, and property loss control issues.Knowledge of loss prevention codes and standards (NFPA, FM, API, ASME, etc.) preferred.Ability to work independently and collaboratively with underwriters and managers; manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Strong communication, writing, organization, customer‑relation, public speaking, and time‑management skills.Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.Benefits Remote work with occasional regional travel (25‑40% overnight).Company car provided.First‑class training and development opportunities.Equal Opportunity Employer Statement Starr is an equal‑opportunity employer and considers all qualified applicants regardless of gender identity or expression, ethnicity, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation, disability status, or any other protected characteristic.
