Mission of the role: As a Senior Business Development Manager, you will help shape the future of the connected cockpit and next-generation vehicle experiences. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with leading OEMs, influence strategic pursuits, and drive significant business growth in one of the industry's most dynamic technology sectors.
Key Objectives of this Role: This role will focus on identifying, developing, and winning new business opportunities with both existing and new customers, while supporting the expansion of emerging technology initiatives and adjacent growth areas as opportunities arise. Operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, the successful candidate will be responsible for creating opportunities where none exist, pursuing new logos, influencing customer roadmaps, and leading pursuits from initial engagement through RFI, RFQ, commercial negotiations, and business award. The role requires a strong hunter mentality, exceptional relationship-building skills, and the ability to align internal stakeholders across Engineering, Product Development, Finance, Program Management, Operations, and Executive Leadership to bring complex opportunities to closure.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify, develop, and pursue new business opportunities across automotive, commercial vehicle, powersports, and emerging mobility customers.
Develop and execute customer penetration strategies focused on winning new logos and expanding Visteon's footprint within existing accounts.
Lead customer engagements from early opportunity identification through RFI, RFQ, quotation development, negotiations, and business award.
Act as the commercial quarterback for new pursuits, coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on strategy, technical solutions, pricing, investment requirements, and business cases.
Partner closely with Engineering, Product Development, Finance, Purchasing, Operations, and Program Management teams to develop competitive and differentiated customer proposals.
Influence customer requirements and product roadmaps by engaging early with key decision-makers across engineering, purchasing, product planning, and executive leadership organizations.
Drive strategic growth across Visteon's portfolio of cockpit, connectivity, and vehicle electronics solutions, including Displays, Digital Clusters, Domain Controllers, Cameras, Surround View Systems (SVS), Zonal Controllers, Telematics, Connected Vehicle Technologies, and Integrated Cockpit Platforms.
Support strategic growth initiatives in adjacent technology areas and new verticals as business opportunities emerge.
Maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities and provide accurate forecasting and business updates to leadership.
Represent Visteon at customer meetings, executive reviews, trade shows, and industry events.
Required Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
8+ years of experience in business development, sales, account management, or commercial leadership roles within the automotive or technology industry.
Demonstrated success winning new business and managing complex pursuits from opportunity creation through business award.
Proven ability to operate independently in a highly entrepreneurial, fast-moving environment with minimal direction.
This role requires a strong hunter mentality, exceptional relationship-building skills, and the ability to align internal stakeholders across Engineering, Product Development, Finance, Program Management, Operations, and Executive Leadership to bring complex opportunities to closure.
Strong experience working across matrixed organizations and influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
Ability to build consensus and drive alignment among engineering, product, finance, and executive leadership teams. Excellent customer-facing, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
Willingness to travel extensively to support customer engagement and business development activities.
Preferred Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Experience with automotive electronics and software solutions, including displays, digital clusters, cockpit domain controllers, infotainment systems, ADAS, connected vehicle technologies, or related mobility solutions.
Established relationships within OEM and Tier 1 organizations across purchasing, engineering, product planning, strategy, or executive leadership functions.
MBA, Master's degree, or other advanced business or technical qualification.
Demonstrated success working in a global, cross-functional environment, collaborating effectively across engineering, product management, finance, operations, and commercial teams.
Experience leading complex pursuits that require coordination across multiple stakeholders, functions, and regions to achieve successful business outcomes.
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities, navigate ambiguity, and drive initiatives from concept through execution.
