Sr. Manager, Cost ManagementFleet Data Centers designs, builds and operates mega‑scale data center campuses. The company collaborates with partners to deliver customized solutions for campuses of 500 MW or more. HQ is in Denver, CO, with satellite offices in Seattle, WA and Arlington, VA.About the positionFleet is seeking a highly motivated and experienced senior cost manager to drive program‑level cost management for large‑scale data center build programs. The role requires cost planning and control, progress measurement, risk mitigation, and cost‑and‑schedule development. This is a people‑manager position responsible for leading, coaching, and developing a team of Cost Principals.ResponsibilitiesLead, coach, and develop the cost team, setting priorities, allocating work, supporting professional development, and driving consistent execution.Collaborate closely with Contracts Management on all Request‑For‑Information, Quotation, and Proposal (RFx) processes.Prepare, review, negotiate, and execute contracts with general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants.Drive cost control, risk mitigation, and the overall status of data center build programs.Facilitate effective communication on project status, monitor finances, work with construction on deliverables and payments, track payments, and manage variations or claims.Provide estimate and cost planning, including producing and presenting final cost plans for customer engagements, vendor assessments, and internal reporting.Participate in post‑contract cost variances and change‑control processes, and manage cost impact/contingency tracking logs.QualificationsBachelor's degree in quantity surveying, finance/cost management, construction management, engineering, or equivalent work experience.5+ years as a subject‑matter expert in quantity surveying and experience in the construction industry.5+ years of strategic sourcing / procurement experience, including 3+ years working for a hyperscaler or data center developer/operator.3+ years of commercial / transactional contract negotiation experience (awarding, drafting, negotiating, executing, and administering).Experience managing and developing direct reports.Knowledge of construction economics, commercial negotiations, and cost control within mission‑critical or technically complex environments.Strong organizational, analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.Proficiency with supply‑chain management tools, data analytics, and BI tools.Preferred QualificationsAdvanced degree or license in quantity surveying, cost management, construction management or engineering.Experience with typical construction services contracting approaches and fee structures (GMP, NTE, cost‑plus fee, time & materials, DBA, etc.).Proficiency in cost management systems and integration with corporate financial systems.Track record in implementing process‑improvement initiatives and driving operational excellence.Location and TravelThe role can be based in Denver, CO or Seattle, WA – Hybrid, 3 days per week in office.
