About the role

The Browser Technology Team (BTG) develops cutting-edge technology to make users more productive through an enhanced, more secure web browser experience. We are looking for a talented and proactive Engineering Manager to help us drive a growing and highly experienced team of engineers, working together to build state-of-the-art security products. As part of your role, you will have to conduct daily meetings, evaluate team capacity and work closely with principal team members and directors to successfully execute planning and milestones.

This is a leadership role and requires a combination of technical and management skills along with the ability to coach and mentor the various engineers in the team. 

To be successful in this role you must possess a combination of strong technical acumen as well as have a passion for building teams. In this role, you'll be responsible for working closely with various Netskope engineering and deployment teams to better understand the services and products . You will also play a key role in understanding the requests from various engineering teams, tackling their questions and concerns, creating scalable methods and  ensuring technical details are communicated effectively. Furthermore, you will be responsible for consolidating, clearly communicating, and helping to prioritize feature requests. Finally, it is expected that you will be able to take ownership of high priority features and bugs for the engineering teams, communicate clear responses to and ensure the highest priorities issues are addressed as quickly as is feasible.

What you will be doing

• Heading a team dedicated to developing cutting-edge technology aimed at safer and more productive web browsing experiences.
• Plan the day-to-day and future work for the team using agile methodologies.
• Drive standup meetings with the team to ensure the project is on-track and that issues are resolved timely.
• Plan and monitor development timeline according to the requirements and key development milestones. 
• Deliver monthly progress reports.
• Plan and manage work for the team, evaluating the team performance and the need of growing.
• Working with product managers in product definition, working with architects in architecture design, and coordinating with other teams to build the complete solution. 
• Ensuring product resiliency and sustainability.
• Managing a team of talented engineers and coaching, mentoring and encouraging their growth and career progress.
• Establishing best practices and maintaining code hygiene in software development.

Required skills and experience

• A minimum 10 + years of work experience with 4 +Years in managerial role.
• Experience managing a talented engineering team spanning all levels of experience.
• Strong domain experience with Chrome and Chromium.
• A good understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• A good understanding of distributed systems and networking technologies.
• Strong Programming knowledge of Go, Python and/or C++.
• Flexibility in coordinating with global teams and encouraging round-the-clock efficiency.
• The ability to coach, mentor and encourage growth and career progress of team members.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills. Communicate in an open, transparent and consistent manner with team and co-workers.
• Determination and the ever-ready willingness to roll-up your sleeves to respond to the needs of customers proactively and promptly.
• An achievement-oriented personality and willingness to take responsibility for your own actions.
• A belief in innovation and out-of-the box thinking to foster originality of ideas.
• Past experience managing international teams from different countries/cultures is preferred. 
• Previous experience in cybersecurity will be a bonus.
• Previous experience in desktop and mobile applications will be a bonus.

Education

• BSCS or equivalent required, MSCS or equivalent strongly preferred.
