Job Description

As part of the Thermo Fisher Scientific team, you'll discover meaningful work that makes a positive impact on a global scale. Join our colleagues in bringing our Mission to life every single day to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. We provide our global teams with the resources needed to achieve individual career goals while helping to take science a step beyond by developing solutions for some of the world's toughest challenges, like protecting the environment, making sure our food is safe or helping find cures for cancer.

As a Senior HR Manager, you will serve as the strategic HR leader for two manufacturing sites within the Filtration & Separation Division (FSD) of our BioProduction Group (BPG), supporting operations in Stafford Springs and Meriden, Connecticut. You will partner closely with site leadership and division stakeholders to drive business performance through effective people strategies. This role requires a strong business partner who can navigate a dynamic manufacturing environment, support significant organizational growth, and lead large-scale transformation initiatives. The Senior HR Manager will play a critical role in accelerating talent acquisition and workforce planning efforts to support ongoing site expansion and hiring ramp-ups across both locations.

The Meriden site operates within a unionized environment, requiring proactive labor relations leadership, effective partnership with union representatives, and preparation for future collective bargaining activities. The Stafford Springs site is non-union, requiring a balanced approach to employee engagement, talent development, and organizational effectiveness. Both sites have joined Thermo Fisher through a recent acquisition, creating a unique opportunity to lead change management efforts that align legacy practices, processes, and cultures with Thermo Fisher standards and values. Success in this role will require strong organizational development capabilities, experience leading through transformation, and the ability to influence leaders through periods of significant change.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Strategic partnership with manufacturing and functional leaders to drive business objectives through people strategies

  • Workforce planning and talent acquisition support to meet aggressive hiring and growth targets

  • Labor and employee relations, including support of union-management relationships and collective bargaining preparation

  • Organizational design, leadership coaching, talent management, succession planning, and employee development

  • Change management and acquisition integration initiatives to harmonize processes, policies, and culture across sites

  • Performance management, employee engagement, and culture-building initiatives aligned with Thermo Fisher's 4i Values

  • HR compliance, policy implementation, and risk mitigation within a manufacturing environment

  • Leveraging workforce analytics and insights to inform decision-making and drive business outcomes

This position requires a highly collaborative leader who can influence across all levels of the organization, build trust with employees and leaders, and successfully navigate complex organizational challenges in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Advanced Degree plus 6 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of comprehensive HR experience, with demonstrated success as an HR Business Partner

  • Preferred Fields of Study: Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Industrial Relations, or related field

  • PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, or equivalent HR certification preferred

  • Demonstrated experience supporting manufacturing or operations organizations in a multi-site environment

  • Experience leading HR strategy and execution during periods of organizational growth, workforce expansion, or operational scaling

  • Strong labor relations experience, including supporting unionized workforces, grievance management, contract interpretation, and labor-management partnerships; collective bargaining experience preferred

  • Proven success leading change management and organizational transformation initiatives

  • Experience harmonizing policies, practices, and cultures following mergers, acquisitions, or large-scale organizational change

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to align people strategies with operational and financial objectives

  • Advanced knowledge of employee relations, talent management, organizational development, performance management, compensation, and workforce planning

  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws, labor regulations, and HR compliance requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and coach leaders at all levels of the organization

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making capabilities

  • Proven project management skills with the ability to lead multiple complex initiatives simultaneously

  • Excellent communication, consultation, and relationship-building skills

  • Experience working effectively in a matrixed global organization

  • Proficiency with HR systems, workforce analytics tools, and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Ability to travel between sites and within the region up to 25%
