Your Opportunity

Schwab Advisor Services (AS), a division of Charles Schwab & Co., Inc., is the leading provider of custody, trading, technology, and practice management services to independent registered investment advisors (RIAs). RIAs choose independence because they are determined to take charge of their future. They want the freedom to serve their clients without compromise and to control their destiny as business owners. And like them, Schwab believes in doing the right thing for investors - it''s a basic shared value.

The Business Consulting and Education (BCE) team is part of Schwab Advisor Services and creates and delivers industry-leading consulting, benchmarking, and education programs that help advisors achieve their goals and gain competitive advantage. Its extensive offer includes the RIA Benchmarking Study, immersive multi-week 'Insight to Action' consulting programs, the Schwab Executive Leadership Program and more. BCE programs are developed by a skilled program team and delivered by a nationwide team of experienced consultants. The team's success is grounded in its deep expertise in core business issues firms face and its ability to create highly relevant and scalable programs that convert insights into actions that advisors can implement in their firms.

As a Senior Manager, Technology Consultant within Schwab Advisor Services, you will serve as a strategic partner to prospective and transitioning Registered Investment Advisors. Your primary responsibility is to guide RIAs through the process of envisioning, designing, and implementing technology strategies that support their ideal client and staff experience. You will leverage deep expertise in the RIA space, including direct experience with the technology ecosystem RIAs use, to deliver actionable, tailored consulting engagements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Planning: Collaborate with RIAs to outline a comprehensive technology strategy and roadmap. Facilitate discovery sessions to clarify the firm's vision, client experience goals, and operational needs. Use Schwab's proven consulting methodology to create a custom Firm Design Blueprint that aligns technology with business objectives.
  • Technology Assessment: Assess the current and desired technology stack, including Schwab and third-party solutions. Evaluate how technology can enhance the client journey, streamline operations, and support scalable growth. Guide clients through the selection of core and elective technology providers, leveraging Schwab's extensive integration network and industry benchmarking data.
  • Third-Party Provider Evaluation: Introduce and evaluate third-party technology providers specializing in the RIA space. Help clients compare solutions for CRM, portfolio management, trading, financial planning, and more. Provide best practices and insights from Schwab's experience with thousands of RIA transitions.
  • Implementation Support: Lead and support the implementation of technology solutions, ensuring seamless integration with Schwab's platform and third-party systems. Coordinate with Schwab's Startup Consultants and Transition Consultants to manage data migration, staff training, and client onboarding.
  • Ongoing Guidance: Provide ongoing consulting and practice management resources post-launch, including access to Schwab's RIA EdCenter and benchmarking studies. Help firms continuously optimize their technology ecosystem and adapt to evolving industry trends.
  • This is a remote position with about 30% travel. Preference is given to those in Westlake or Orlando.

What you have

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in the RIA industry, including direct experience with the technology platforms, integrations, and third-party solutions commonly used by RIAs.
  • Proven ability to assess, recommend, and implement technology solutions that support the ideal client experience and operational efficiency.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate complex implementations and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into actionable business strategies for clients.
  • 7+ years in business operations, technology consulting, or technology sales within the financial services or RIA sector.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Competencies:

  • Advanced degree or certifications in technology or financial services preferred.
  • Experience guiding RIAs through the evaluation and selection of technology providers, with a focus on integration, scalability, and regulatory considerations.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
