POSITION: Sr. Manager, Volunteer & Event Services

DEPARTMENT: Operations

REPORTS TO: Director, Volunteer & Event Services

 

Purpose: The Sr. Manager, Volunteer & Event Services is responsible for supporting the strategic growth and sustainability of the state-wide Volunteer program.

 

Qualifications:

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information in a clear and courteous manner.

· Strategic leader with proven capacity to manage scalable, long-range volunteer engagement plans that strengthen organizational impact.

· Effective administration, coordination, and presentation skills, with strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.

· Extensive computer experience in word processing, and database input and management.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Knowledge of Cervis (volunteer software) and Smartsheet is preferred.

· Ability to take initiative and work independently, as well as work collaboratively in a team environment.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and demonstrate effective time management skills.

· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to supervise large groups of people.

· Regular attendance required.

 

Responsibilities:

· Manage the development and execution of all strategic initiatives for recruitment, recognition, and retention of volunteers.

· Assist with the development and maintenance of resources to support field staff with volunteer management and training.

· Develop and manage all pre- and post-event communication to volunteers for assigned events.

· Prepare all materials needed for on-site volunteer management, including sign-in sheets and training documents.

· Respond to inquiries made by volunteers via phone and email.

· Identify and pursue strategic community outreach opportunities to recruit individual and group volunteers. Partner with the statewide development team to create meaningful engagement opportunities for current and prospective sponsors and donors.

· Partner with the State Sports Team in the recruitment, on-boarding and management of Class A leadership volunteers, including but not limited to volunteer leads, sports leadership teams and logistics team volunteers.

· Manage the request process and recruitment of administrative volunteers to assist all departments for projects such as packing / unloading days, warehouse clean-up, etc.

· Support volunteer check-in, volunteer training, and the overall volunteer experience at all state sports and development events.

· Reconcile post-event volunteer attendance records to ensure an accurate database of Class B Volunteers and their involvement exists within the computer system.

· Availability to work nights and weekends.

· Additional duties as assigned.

· Must be able to lift 50 lbs
