Join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Sr Manufacturing Planner/Scheduler, where you'll contribute to production planning and scheduling for scientific instruments. In this role, you'll develop and manage production schedules, enhance manufacturing processes, and ensure timely delivery to meet customer demand. You'll work with cross-functional teams, analyze production metrics, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining quality standards. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to scientific advancement through effective manufacturing operations.

A Day in the Life

The Senior Manufacturing Planner is responsible for the day-to-day scheduling and coordination of manufacturing activities to support continuous and efficient production. This includes planning work order sequences, issuing daily schedules, monitoring progress on the shop floor, and adjusting plans in real time to ensure seamless operations. The role acts as the link between Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to maintain stable production execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, review, and manage work orders from initiation through completion, ensuring accuracy, timely execution, and full accountability for scope, quality, and compliance with established procedures.
  • Develop and effectively communicate production plans to ensure timely delivery to meet customer demand.
  • Prepare and maintain planning data for tiered meetings, supply reviews, and operational forums.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing operations, engineering, quality control, and supply chain, to optimize production processes.
  • Develop KPI dashboards, analyze and effectively communicate production data and metrics to identify areas of improvement.
  • Monitor production processes and drive follow-up discussion with production in areas where production plan is misaligned with actual execution.
  • Track production schedule adherence and attainment, identifying root causes for variances.
  • Field ad hoc queries and support with data driven insights.
  • Manage and optimize inventory levels to meet inventory targets and production demands.
  • Support master data accuracy by identifying exceptions and driving corrections.

Keys to Success

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing planning or related role.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and industry standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Proficient in production planning software, MS Office.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

Preferred

  • Experience planning high SKU complexity and dynamic production schedules.
  • Experience in chemical or consumables manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools.
  • Experience with data automation and/or data wrangling using Python and/or SQL.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $112,500.00–$140,000.00.
