Description

Steve Madden is seeking a Marketing Manager, Digital Wholesale to own retail media network execution across Amazon, Zappos, Nordstrom, Macy's Media Network, Walmart Connect, and Target Roundel — and to serve as the primary liaison between the digital wholesale team and Steve Madden's central marketing organization. This is a hands‑on individual contributor role built on partnership. You will be in lockstep with the Amazon account management team and the sales team — coordinating media strategy with their commercial priorities, amplifying their account plans with paid activation, and moving together rather than in parallel.WHAT YOU'LL DORetail Media Network ManagementOwn day-to-day campaign execution across all retail media networks — Amazon DSP and Sponsored Ads, Zappos, Nordstrom Media Network, Macy's Media Network, Walmart Connect, and Target RoundelBuild, launch, and optimize campaigns yourself; set budgets, monitor pacing, adjust bids and targeting, and pull performance data without waiting on an agency to do itManage the full campaign calendar across accounts; coordinate timing with seasonal priorities, key events (Prime Day, holiday, back‑to‑school), and brand campaign windowsTrack and report ROAS, TACOS, glance views, conversion, and attributed sales weekly; identify what is working, what is not, and act on itStay current on platform updates, new ad formats, and retail media innovations across all networks; bring forward recommendations proactivelyServe as the primary point of contact between the digital wholesale team and Steve Madden's central marketing organization; ensure wholesale channel needs are represented in brand planning and campaign developmentTranslate central marketing campaigns — brand moments, seasonal priorities, influencer activations, and content releases — into retail media executions that align timing, creative, and messaging across all accountsBring digital wholesale context into central marketing planning meetings; surface account‑specific opportunities, platform constraints, and promotional windows that should shape campaign strategyCoordinate asset delivery between central marketing and digital wholesale accounts; ensure creative meets platform specs, brand standards, and account requirements on timeFlag conflicts between central marketing priorities and wholesale account requirements early; broker alignment rather than letting gaps surface at executionAgency ManagementEvaluate whether retail media execution is best handled in‑house, through an agency, or a hybrid model; make a recommendation to the Director and own the outcome either wayIf an agency is engaged, manage that relationship directly; own the brief, review the work, enforce SLA compliance, and hold performance to the contracted scope — do not let the agency run on autopilotReview agency deliverables yourself before they reach leadership; know the numbers well enough to catch what does not add upManage agency onboarding and transitions if partners change; maintain continuity of campaign execution and institutional knowledge regardless of who is doing the workBuild internal processes that reduce dependency on agency capacity; if the agency is doing something the team should own, flag it and close the gapBe in lockstep with the Amazon account management team; align media calendars with account priorities, promotional windows, and key commercial moments — do not plan in isolationPartner with the sales team to understand account‑level goals, seasonal targets, and key negotiation moments; ensure media investment is timed and sized to support commercial outcomesAttend joint planning sessions with account management and sales; bring media strategy to the table as an input to account planning, not a downstream deliverableCommunicate campaign performance to the account management and sales teams in their language — tie results to shipments, sell‑through, and account health, not just ROASSurface media insights that have implications for the account relationship; if a campaign reveals a content gap, a competitive threat, or a platform opportunity, bring it to the account team immediatelyCoordinate campaign timing with the sales team around key events, order windows, and customer negotiations; your media calendar should reflect their commercial calendarFlag content gaps that will impact paid performance and bring them to the account team with urgency; do not launch spend against weak pagesCoordinate with central marketing on asset delivery timelines; be specific about what is needed, when, and for which accounts — do not leave it open-endedServe as the feedback loop between media performance and content quality; share what the data shows and work with the account team to close gapsBuild and maintain retail media performance reporting across all networks; deliver a consolidated weekly view of spend, ROAS, traffic, and conversion to the DirectorDevelop account‑level scorecards for each retail media network; track performance against targets and identify trends before they become problemsContribute to the broader digital wholesale reporting package; ensure retail media data integrates cleanly with sales, inventory, and channel performance viewsBring data into every conversation with central marketing — use performance results to influence future campaign planning and budget allocationOperations & ProcessOwn the retail media trafficking and approval workflow; keep campaigns on schedule and catch delays before they cause missed launchesMaintain platform access, creative asset libraries, and campaign documentation across all retail media accountsIdentify process gaps between central marketing and digital wholesale and propose solutions — do not wait to be askedSupport the Director on ad hoc analysis, business case development, and special projects as neededWHAT YOU BRINGRequired7+ years of hands‑on retail media experience; must have directly managed campaigns on Amazon Sponsored Ads and/or DSP, and at least two of the following: Zappos, Nordstrom Media Network, Macy's Media Network, Walmart Connect, or Target RoundelProven ability to build, optimize, and report on paid campaigns yourself — you are in the platforms, not just reviewing agency slidesExperience managing a retail media agency or external partner; you have briefed agency teams, enforced deliverables, and held partners accountable to contracted scopeExperience working in close partnership with account management and sales teams; you understand how media strategy connects to commercial outcomes and can operate as a true counterpart, not a support functionExperience working cross‑functionally with a central marketing or brand team; you know how to represent channel needs without creating friction, and how to translate brand strategy into account‑level executionStrong analytical skills; you are comfortable pulling your own data, building performance summaries, and making a clear recommendation based on what the numbers sayHighly organized with strong project management instincts; you track deadlines, manage asset delivery, and keep multiple workstreams moving simultaneouslyClear communicator; you can write a tight brief, run a productive cross‑functional meeting, and elevate the right issues at the right levelBias for action; familiarity with seasonal campaign rhythms and wholesale account dynamicsExperience working with or managing a retail media agency; familiarity with contract structures, SLA management, and performance accountabilityFamiliarity with content syndication tools (Salsify, Akeneo, or comparable) and digital asset management workflowsWorking knowledge of enterprise BI or reporting tools (Google Data Studio, BigQuery, Looker, or comparable)WHY THIS ROLEThis role sits at the intersection of paid media, brand strategy, and wholesale commerce — and touches every major retail media network in the market.
