We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Designer with strong expertise in mechanisms and welded structures, along with exposure to sheet metal design, to support projects at our customer facility in San Leandro, California. This is a senior-level, hands-on design role requiring deep technical capability, leadership, and direct customer engagement. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of mechanical design experience, advanced proficiency in PTC Creo for parametric 3D modeling, and strong working knowledge of Windchill for product data management, BOM creation, and revision control. Experience designing across fabricated assemblies-including welded and sheet metal components-is a plus. Job Duties: Lead end-to-end mechanical design activities including: Concept development Mechanism design and kinematics Welded structural design and detailing Sheet metal component design (as applicable) Component and assembly modeling Develop robust, manufacturable designs that meet performance, cost, and quality requirements Generate detailed engineering drawings with proper GD&T per ASME standards Requirements: 7+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience with strong expertise in: Mechanisms (linkages, motion systems, moving assemblies) Welded structures (frames, fabricated assemblies, structural integrity) Advanced proficiency in: PTC Creo (3D modeling & assemblies) Windchill (PDM, BOMs, revision control) Extensive experience creating manufacturing drawings with GD&T Strong understanding of: Materials and fabrication processes Machining and welding best practices Design for manufacturability (DFM) Preferred: Bachelor"s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field Experience working onsite at customer facilities Background in heavy equipment, industrial machinery, or similar industries Familiarity with structural analysis concepts (FEA exposure a plus) Experience leading small design teams or projects Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Excellent communication and presentation abilities Ability to work independently and lead design efforts Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills Customer-focused mindset We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary range of $108,160 to $128,960. Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline.
