About This Opportunity

CTI Staffing is partnering with a leading aviation instrumentation and avionics manufacturer to find a Senior Mechanical Engineer for their team in Clearwater, Florida. This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity with a well-established, mission-driven company whose products fly on civil, military, and business aviation platforms worldwide.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the mechanical design, fabrication, evaluation, and testing of new aviation products from concept through qualification and into lifecycle sustainment
  • Create and maintain SolidWorks 3D models and 2D design definitions, applying FEA where appropriate
  • Conduct technical design reviews and FMEAs to identify critical design factors and manufacturing risks
  • Design products to meet DO-160 or MIL-STD-810 environmental qualification standards
  • Drive multiple concurrent projects through the full design cycle to completion
  • Apply structured problem-solving to identify and eliminate root causes of technical issues
  • Provide obsolescence and sustaining engineering support for established product lines
  • Support manufacturing engineers with fixtures, tooling, and process improvements

What You Bring

  • 8+ years of engineering experience in aerospace new product development
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering
  • SolidWorks proficiency for 3D and 2D design definition
  • Demonstrated experience designing to DO-160 or MIL-STD-810 environmental qualification standards
  • GD&T proficiency per ASME Y14.5
  • FEA experience (ANSYS or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes: machining, welding, brazing, assembly, and testing
  • Strong technical writing skills — procedures, requirements, and specifications documentation
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or individual protected under 8 U.S.C. 1324b) — required for ITAR compliance
  • Must be able to work fully onsite in Clearwater, FL

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience designing FAA-certified aviation products
  • Familiarity with SAE Aerospace Standards AS8006, AS5562, or FAA TSO C16b
  • MATLAB proficiency
  • Experience managing or working with additive manufacturing / 3D printing processes
  • Experience managing external contracted engineering services

Technical Environment

SolidWorks · ANSYS · MATLAB · ASME Y14.5 / GD&T · DO-160 · MIL-STD-810 · FMEA methodology · Additive Manufacturing / 3D Printing

What Success Looks Like

  • Within the first 60 days: Integrated with the engineering team, contributing to active design reviews or sustaining engineering efforts, and building familiarity with the current product portfolio
  • Within 3–6 months: Independently leading mechanical design on at least one active development program from requirements through design definition
  • Consistently producing high-quality design documentation that supports internal reviews and external qualification activities
