Job Title: Sr Mechanical Engineer (MEP) Location: Chicago, IL Permanent/Direct Hire Pay range: $123,000 - $150,000
Our client, a growing and highly respected engineering consulting firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (MEP) to join their Chicago team. This is a high-impact leadership role ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of technical excellence, team leadership, and client development.
This position goes beyond traditional engineering design—you will play a key role in building teams, strengthening client relationships, and driving project success across multiple engagements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead mechanical (HVAC) design efforts on a variety of projects
Develop construction documents, including drawings and specifications
Support and guide junior MEP engineers and design staff
Manage projects to meet deadlines, budgets, and quality standards
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and project partners
Collaborate with internal teams to deliver successful project outcomes
Participate in site visits and support construction activities as needed
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering ( BSME)
10+ years of experience in MEP design/consulting, preferably in the Chicago market
Proven team leadership and management experience
Strong project management background in MEP environments
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships
Deep understanding of HVAC system design and building codes
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineering license or equivalent experience
LEED Accreditation
Experience with IES-VE or similar energy modeling tools
