    Sr. Mechanical Engineer

    Location: Cranberry Township, PA
    Status Direct Hire
    Salary: $100,000 to $130,000 DOE

    Experience: 10+ years of experience in mechanical design


    Summary
    Responsible for providing mechanical design guidance and technical oversight of mechanical and electromechanical machines and large manufacturing plant systems. Oversees and prepares cost estimates of unique custom production systems and large-scale projects involving the company's core products. May involve troubleshooting of machines and plant systems in the customer's facility.
     
    Responsibilities:
    • Responsible for the development, review, and technical oversight of mechanical design and engineering of automated machines and systems
    • Direct and prepare instructions for shop and field technicians to test and verify that completed systems meet exact project and safety specifications.
    • Partner with sales and clients to interpret technical requirements and translate them into actionable engineering concepts.
    • Prepare preliminary drawings, technical layout descriptions, and accurate engineering cost estimates for custom proposals under tight deadlines.
    • Collaborate with Project Managers, Electrical Engineers, and PLC Programmers to ensure cross-functional alignment on budget, scope, and timeline.
    • Review and verify that designed products are within budget and can be completed on schedule
    • Conduct post-project design reviews to identify product areas for cost reduction, performance optimization, and standardization.
    • Perform 3D Solid Modeling of key aspects of the system components.
    • Act as a technical mentor within the engineering department, driving accountability and engineering excellence.
    • Travel for project troubleshooting, customer visits etc. (10-15%)
     
    Qualifications:
    • BS in Mechanical Engineering
    • 10+ years of experience in custom automation and heavy industrial machinery (presses, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics etc.)
    • Proficient with Autodesk Inventor & AutoCAD
    • Knowledge of fluid flows, heat transfer, mechanics, strength of materials, and electro-mechanical systems is required.
    • Ability to engineer innovative solutions that reduce cycle times, labor, and raw material usage.
    • Understanding of machining and welding practices.
