What You'll Do
Lead estimating efforts for complex mechanical construction projects from early design concepts through final bid submission.
Responsibilities include:
Prepare detailed HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical piping estimates for projects at various stages of development.
Review construction drawings, specifications, and project documents to develop accurate and competitive pricing.
Perform design calculations and assist with equipment, material, and system selections.
Analyze labor requirements, material costs, subcontractor pricing, and project risks.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and strategies to improve bid competitiveness.
Review vendor and subcontractor proposals and incorporate pricing into final estimates.
Build strong relationships with general contractors, suppliers, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
Participate in pre-bid meetings, turnover meetings, and project planning discussions.
Develop labor budgets and support project teams after contract award.
Assist with bid tracking, bid reviews, bid bonds, and procurement of project documents.
Mentor Estimator Trainees and contribute to the development of the estimating team.
What You Bring
Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical piping systems.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
Understanding of applicable mechanical and plumbing codes.
Experience with estimating tools such as AutoBid, Bluebeam, and Excel.
Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to balance strategic thinking with attention to detail.
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
5+ years of mechanical estimating experience OR 10+ years of HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical piping field experience.
