Description Amazon Leo is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Leo will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity. The Leo Manufacturing Quality Engineering team is driven to deliver high-quality product lines while maintaining a fast production rate. This position will join the team at an exciting moment, with an opportunity to directly own the quality outputs of some of our critical sub-systems As a Sr. Mfg Quality Engineer, you will have the opportunity to own product performance for some of the most critical sub-assemblies of the satellite, delivering creative solutions to reduce defects, and planning to prevent defects using your technical quality competencies. Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Key job responsibilities As a Manufacturing Quality Engineer (MQE), you will: - Be accountable for the overall Quality of a critical satellite manufacturing value stream. - Lead MRB discussions to determine product dispositions for nonconforming material. - Dive deep into defect reduction activities for your value stream and drive innovative solutions to prevent recurrence of defects. - Work closely with Inspection, Supplier Quality, and Engineering teams to evaluate existing manufacturing processes and systems, then drive solutions that perpetuate Amazon's culture of Invent and Simplify. - Be responsible for communicating, creating, and executing on cross-functional projects aimed to meet and exceed Leo's Quality Key Process Indicator (KPI) targets. - Collaborate with fellow MQEs and PSQEs to influence and improve mechanisms that affect the entire LEO business as a whole. - Harness Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to further streamline existing processes. - Mentor developing talent and champion the creation of a collaborative culture in the overall Manufacturing Quality organization. A day in the life - Monitor value stream KPIs on a regular and identify immediate and systemic process improvements to drive down overall quality defects - Work closely with cross functional teams to align on process improvement projects and assist with overcoming implementation obstacles where needed - Provide weekly and monthly updates to leadership on KPI progress and "path to green" - Become an SME around LEO's evolving manufacturing and inventory management systems and be a key stakeholder in the rollout of system changes that will impact manufacturing flows - Drive system and process changes that affect the entire LEO business as a whole - Scale your learnings by creating processes and lasting mechanisms that newer Quality personnel can be trained against - Drive business critical quality investigations with the assistance of Production Support Quality Engineers (PSQEs) and other LEO business partners About the team We are a tight knit group of Quality professionals with backgrounds from a diverse range of industries. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
