The
Senior Network Engineer serves as a senior technical resource responsible for the design, administration, optimization, and support of enterprise network and internet-related services across multiple Aegis sites. This role will maintain and advance network software and hardware, including routing, switching, wireless, firewall, VoIP, virtualization, VDI, and storage platforms supporting LAN/WAN operations.
The Senior Network Engineer will provide advanced troubleshooting, technical guidance, standards development, and escalation support to the IT department and Aegis team members as needed.
Location Requirement: Candidates must reside in
Middle Tennessee and be able to come into the office as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and support VMware virtual hosts, Citrix VDI, and storage systems supporting network and infrastructure operations
- Design, administer, support, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN network services in accordance with company policies, procedures, and established standards
- Support, maintain, patch, configure, and lifecycle-manage routers, switches, and related network infrastructure across all sites
- Administer, optimize, and troubleshoot firewall services, including rule management, policy validation, and performance reviews
- Lead root-cause analysis and resolve network performance, availability, and connectivity issues using network monitoring and diagnostic tools
- Administer, support, optimize, and troubleshoot wireless network services across supported sites
- Provide senior-level escalation support, mentoring, and technical guidance to Helpdesk and infrastructure team members
- Lead and participate in network-related projects, upgrades, incident response, and change-management initiatives
- Develop and maintain network documentation, diagrams, standards, and support procedures
- Collaborate with Infrastructure, IT Security, Laboratory Operations, and other business stakeholders to ensure network services are reliable, secure, scalable, and aligned with business needs
- Recommend improvements to network architecture, monitoring, documentation, and operational processes based on trends, risks, and support requirements
- Administer, support, and optimize VoIP telecommunications systems, including advanced troubleshooting and escalation support
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, or a related field preferred
- 7+ years of progressive experience administering enterprise network infrastructure, firewall services, virtualization platforms, and storage systems
- Experience administering Palo Alto firewalls, enterprise routing and switching, wireless networking, and multi-site network environments
- Network+, CCNA, or equivalent experience required
- Experience working within established change-management, documentation, security, and compliance frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical troubleshooting, coordinate remediation efforts, document root cause, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting hybrid cloud infrastructure, including Microsoft Azure, virtual networking, identity services, and cloud-hosted workloads
- Experience with Data Loss Prevention (DLP), cybersecurity technologies, and data protection platforms
- CCNP, Palo Alto, VMware, Microsoft Azure, or Citrix certifications
- Experience with VMware, Citrix, Pure Storage, enterprise wireless platforms, firewalls, and highly available infrastructure environments
- Experience supporting critical infrastructure within regulated, healthcare, laboratory, or other high-availability environments
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior-level network professional who can operate independently, take ownership of complex technical issues, and serve as a trusted escalation point for the broader IT team. This person should have strong experience with enterprise networking, Palo Alto firewalls, multi-site environments, and infrastructure technologies while also being comfortable collaborating across technical and business teams.
