Summary:

Occupational Therapists provide services that identify, prevent, remediate, and rehabilitate acute or prolonged physical dysfunction or pain. Treatment techniques include select activities, modalities, and exercise and instruction to patient/family to enhance overall functional performance. Clinical responsibilities include treatment of pediatrics, adults, and mature adults.

Responsibilities:

• 1. Performs occupational therapy evaluations on patients with complex diagnoses. • 2. Performs occupational therapy treatment planning and implementation for complex patients. • 3. Provides patient/family education and training. • 4. Provides peer reviews and participates in performance improvement activities. • 5. Documentation is completed based on department guidelines. • 6. Initiates discharge planning. • 7. Continuing education: attends 20 hours of general continuing education per year. Provides 10 hours of inservice education to staff per year. • 8. Provides full time clinical experience to students and community education lectures. • 9. Mentors lower level staff and new staff. • 10. Assists with annual competency training and verification. • 11. Assists with scheduling patients and achieving appropriate staffing. • 12. Inpatient therapists may perform PPS related functions on the rehab unit. • 13. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position. • 14. Performs other duties as assigned.

BACHELOR'S LVL DGRE

Other Information:

Required: Minimum Experience: three years Desired: Functional Independent Measurement (FIM) certification and CPR certification.

Working Conditions:

Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Occupational: Some occupational risk

Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force

Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
