    Sr. Paralegal, Litigation and Employment Law

    KBR is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Paralegal to join our in-house legal team. This role will provide advanced legal support for the Litigation and Labor & Employment teams. This role involves managing complex case workflows, coordinating with internal stakeholders and outside counsel, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The position requires deep expertise in litigation processes, employment law, and strong organizational and communication skills.

    Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

    Legal Hold Management & Discovery Support

    • Support all phases of the eDiscovery lifecycle, including identification, preservation, collection, processing, review, analysis, and production of ESI aligned with the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM).

    • Ensure defensibility of eDiscovery processes and compliance with Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, state rules, and regulatory requirements, including data privacy and cross-border transfer regulations.

    • Manage legal hold lifecycle in Mitratech Legal Hold system, including custodian identification, legal hold drafting, compliance tracking, reporting and releases.

    • Coordinate data mapping and custodian interviews to identify relevant data sources and key custodians.

    • Partner with Legal, IT, and business teams to preserve electronically stored information (ESI) and hard copy documents.

    • Oversee the collection of ESI from various sources, including email systems, cloud platforms, mobile devices, collaboration tools, and legacy systems, ensuring forensic soundness and chain of custody.

    • Manage early case assessment (ECA) processes to evaluate scope, risk, and cost of discovery efforts.

    • Assist with discovery responses, subpoenas, privilege logs, and productions.

    • Manage and collaborate with third-party vendors regarding document processing workflows, including de-duplication, filtering, metadata extraction, and quality control checks.

    • Develop and manage Technology Assisted Review (TAR), predictive coding, and AI-driven review workflows to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

    • Administer eDiscovery platforms (Relativity, Microsoft Purview, or similar tools), including workspace setup, user permissions, and search optimization.

    • Use Relativity and Microsoft Purview for document review.

    • Manage productions in various formats (native, TIFF, PDF) and ensure compliance with negotiated production specifications and ESI protocols.

    • Track and report eDiscovery metrics, including volume, cost, timelines, and vendor performance to support budgeting and process improvement.

    • Collaborate with outside counsel on strategy and cost management.

    • Provide training and guidance to legal team members, custodians, and business stakeholders on eDiscovery procedures, legal holds, and data preservation obligations.

    Matter Management & Support

    • Utilize Mitratech Team Connect matter management system and SharePoint to maintain case files

    • Draft and review pleadings, motions and legal correspondence

    • Support attorneys in handling employment disputes, investigations, compliance matters

    • Assist with responses to EEOC charges, state agency complaints, and related filings

    • Liaise with HR and compliance teams on employment-related requests

    • Perform in-depth legal and factual research

    • Coordinate with outside counsel as necessary

    • Perform other legal support duties as assigned

    Service of Process (SOP)

    • Manage receipt of Service of Process and distribute to appropriate stakeholders

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

    • Bachelor's degree required in related field

    • 10+ years' experience in litigation and labor & employment in a law firm and in-house environment

    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate and interact effectively at all levels and across all functions within an organization

    • Highly organized with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

    • Demonstrated expertise in legal research, discovery drafting, eDiscovery, and trial preparation, including hands-on experience managing all phases of the EDRM lifecycle

    • Proven experience with eDiscovery platforms such as Relativity (including Relativity Analytics and Active Learning), Microsoft Purview, or similar tools

    • Experience with Technology Assisted Review (TAR), predictive coding, concept clustering, and other advanced analytics methodologies

    • Strong understanding of ESI data types, metadata, file systems, email archiving, and cloud-based data sources

    • Working knowledge of Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (particularly Rules 16, 26, 34, 37, and 45), Federal Rules of Evidence (Rule 502), and relevant state procedural rules as they pertain to eDiscovery

    • Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and cross-border data transfer requirements as they relate to eDiscovery collections and productions

    • Advanced proficiency with software such as (but not limited to)

    • Microsoft 365 - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint, etc.

    • LexisNexis

    • Relativity & Purview

    • PACER

    • Experience with matter management systems

    • Intellectually curious with a passion for process improvements and technology such as AI

    • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment and handle sensitive matters with discretion

    • Self-driven, operates with a sense of urgency, and resourcefulness

    • Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships

    • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills

    Preferred Education & Skills:

    • JD or paralegal certification
