Position Summary You will support a senior trial attorney in a Fortune 100 insurance company's civil litigation practice by providing comprehensive pre‑trial and trial assistance, including document drafting, filing, discovery management, deposition coordination, trial exhibit preparation, and technology support.Key Responsibilities Provide direct pre‑trial and trial support for litigated matters ranging from simple to complex.Draft, review, file, and service pleadings, motions, and complex motions such as motions in limine and dispositive motions.Prepare, review, and serve discovery requests, subpoenas, and responses.Analyze and draft responses to incoming discovery and summarize medical records.Conduct legal research and write assignments, including medical chronologies, deposition summaries, and expert witness reports.Assist attorneys in case file management, moving files toward trial or resolution.Attend case–related events and provide trial support, also serving as a change champion for new technologies.Coordinate depositions, hearings, and meetings; maintain filing and follow‑up systems.Retrieve information from the document management system and assemble exhibits, binders, and appendices.Maintain knowledge of court procedures, local rules, and e‑filing systems; update case dockets.Uphold confidentiality regarding attorney‑client privilege, trial strategy, and client identities.Perform legal assistant and other administrative duties as assigned.Reporting Relationships Reports to: Managing Trial Attorney.Qualifications & Experience Education: Undergraduate degree in business administration, insurance, or related field preferred.Certification: Paralegal studies certification strongly preferred; demonstration of insurance litigation experience is required.Experience: Minimum five (5) years as a paralegal in insurance‑related litigation.Knowledge: Property and casualty insurance defense/subrogation law; legal concepts, terminology, and processes.Technical Skills: Familiarity with federal and state e‑filing and e‑Court systems; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and case‑management databases such as Legal Files.Polishes: Strong verbal and written communication; research, organization, detail orientation, adaptability to new systems, independent initiative, and multitasking.Compliance: Must understand and comply with private practice of law policy, state ethical rules, and USAE equality requirements.Legal & Regulatory Requirements Valid credit and/or background check required due to fiduciary accountability.Role does not qualify for employer‑sponsored work authorization; STEM OPT is not applicable.Work Conditions Hybrid work schedule possible.Occasional travel outside the office.Occasional overtime, subject to approval.Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $62,500 – $115,500 annually.Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage; life insurance; short‑ and long‑term disability; paid time off (18 days minimum, plus 9 holidays, 8 hours lifetime PTO, 8 hours Unity Day PTO).401(k) with company match; company‑paid pension plan.Business‑casual attire policy and additional benefits.EEO Statement Nationwide is an equal‑opportunity employer. They started in the industry at different logistics brokerages and formulated their own business model as a freight transportation provider.
