Department: Laboratory – Autopsy Services

Join Orlando Health as a Senior Pathology Laboratory Assistant and play a critical role in supporting pathology and autopsy services while ensuring efficient specimen workflow and laboratory operations.
Prepare the autopsy suite and assist pathologists and residents during procedures
Receive, accession, deliver, store, and track pathology specimens
Coordinate specimen workflow and ensure timely processing of samples
Organize and load tissue specimens onto tissue processors
Retrieve, file, and maintain tissue blocks, slides, and pathology specimens
Assist with frozen section processing and specimen triage
Train and support laboratory staff as needed
Monitor inventory and order laboratory supplies
Maintain compliance with safety, infection control, and quality improvement standards
Serve as a liaison between laboratory staff, physicians, nursing teams, and external partners
High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum of three (3) years of experience within the department required
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced laboratory environment
Ability to work flexible hours to support departmental needs
