Job Description

Sr Patient Services Representative, Full Time, First Shift

Responsible for the overall efficiency of the department with front desk and back-office operations. To assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by greeting, registering, and interacting with patients and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and registers patients for diagnostic procedures.
  • Answer telephone and direct calls to appropriate areas.
  • Train co workers on an as needed basis.
  • Verifies complete and accurate patient information in registration.
  • Enters physicians orders into Last Word or other systems, prepares daily schedules as appropriate.
  • Schedules department procedures in systems used and relays exam preparations instructions as appropriate.
  • Assists the physician in documenting notes and in doing orders and prescriptions by setting them up in the Electronic Medical Record. All documents, prescriptions, and orders will be pended to the physician to review, edit, and sign as appropriate. -
  • Completes patient tracking and record keeping in accordance with established protocols.
  • Maintains appropriate records as needed.
  • Participates in quality assurance and documentation activities through verifying and maintaining complete and accurate demographic data.
  • Participates in corporate compliance activities in accordance with established institutional, state, and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the practice advocate for patients, physicians, visitors, and employees in regards to front desk information patient flow.
  • Coordinate updating insurance changes or adding new insurance information into the appropriate registration fields. Verify insurance/referral information on file in EPIC, or other systems used and identify those that need new updates.
  • Act as liaison with clinical secretaries, nurses, credentialing staff, for practice issues and those issues affecting patient flow and registration.
  • Collaborate with Practice Manager to develop on-going training for the Patient Service Representatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED Required
  • Experience: One to two years' experience in healthcare customer service
