Description Application deadline: Jun 27, 2026 AWS Specialist and Partners (ASP) Planning & Business Operations is seeking a Sr. Planning Excellence Lead to orchestrate the end-to-end planning cycle across Annual Planning (AP) and In-Year Planning (IYP) mechanisms. This role serves as the operational backbone connecting multiple planning workstreams - territories, goals, quotas, compensation, and resource planning - ensuring every workstream operates against shared milestones, timelines, deliverables, and standards. Our team has subject matter experts who own each planning mechanism - territories, goals, quotas, compensation, and resource planning. The Sr. Planning Excellence Lead connects the dots across these workstreams as the single-threaded owner of planning program management, stakeholder communications, knowledge management, and AI-enabled workflow automation. This person brings structure, clarity, and rigor to complex multi-team planning cycles that run year-round - codifying mechanisms, simplifying coordination, and scaling through automation. They are the first point of contact for any stakeholder asking "where are we in the planning cycle, what is due, and who owns it." This role partners closely with ASP Ops central planning team, ASP Ops business-aligned teams, ASP Ops data teams, ASP Finance, field Specialist and Partner teams, SMGS Ops central planning teams, and Sales BU planning teams. Key job responsibilities * Own the master AP/IYP project tracker, calendars, workback schedules, and standardized templates - serving as single source of truth for milestones, owners, dependencies, and status across all planning workstreams. * Proactively communicate key milestones, deliverables, and changes to all stakeholders through the most effective channels (email, Slack, 2x2 updates, office hours, Wiki). Own the weekly planning status update and host stakeholder office hours. * Track and escalate risks, timeline slips, and cross-team dependencies before they become blockers. * Own the AP/IYP knowledge base - partnering with mechanism owners to maintain accurate documentation; codify planning definitions, policies, and procedures into a single searchable source. * Build and manage AI-powered solutions (using Amazon Quick, Kiro, etc.) to scale planning mechanisms - examples including Q&A agents for policy questions, automated status tracking, and documentation improvement driven by conversation logs. * Organize and facilitate planning workshops and offsites - including retrospectives, pre-planning sessions, and cross-functional alignment forums - ensuring insights translate into concrete improvements for the next cycle. A day in the life You start the morning reviewing where every planning workstream stands - checking timelines, flagging risks, and nudging owners before deadlines slip. Mid-morning, you send a crisp status update to 30+ stakeholders before someone is chasing you for answers. After lunch, you hop into a working session where five teams need to align on the same milestone - you facilitate, capture decisions, and follow up. Between meetings, you improve the knowledge base and tune the AI agent that handles routine planning questions so your teammates can focus on strategy. No two planning cycles look the same, and you make sure none of them fall apart. About the team The ASP Planning and Business Operations team drives strategic planning, operational excellence, and builder experience transformation across AWS Specialists and Partners. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
