Amazon's Quick Commerce team is revolutionizing the customer experience through sub-30-minute delivery, rapidly scaling micro-fulfillment sites across North America. We are seeking a highly motivated Sr. Pre-Construction Manager to lead a team responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of pre-construction activities supporting this first-of-its-kind retail and logistics network.

This role is ideal for a strategic builder and people leader who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and can drive scalable mechanisms across a rapidly expanding portfolio. The Pre-Construction Manager will oversee site due diligence, design development, budgeting, permitting strategy, procurement coordination, and pre-construction execution while partnering closely with Real Estate, Design, Construction, Launch, Operations, Legal, and external consultants. This individual will play a critical role in enabling accelerated delivery timelines while maintaining high standards for cost, quality, and operational readiness.

Successful candidates will bring experience leading teams within construction management, architecture, engineering, development, or owner-side project delivery organizations. The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge with operational rigor, executive communication skills, and a bias for action.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of Pre-Construction Managers supporting a large-scale portfolio of Quick Commerce tenant improvement and conversion projects
  • Own pre-construction strategy across multiple active sites, ensuring alignment on scope, schedule, budget, and launch milestones
  • Drive site due diligence activities including entitlement review, utility coordination, zoning analysis, permitting strategy, MEP feasibility, and landlord coordination
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to establish standardized processes, scalable mechanisms, and reporting tools that support rapid portfolio expansion
  • Manage RFP processes, bid leveling, contractor and consultant procurement, and pre-construction budgeting efforts
  • Review conceptual and detailed designs to ensure operational functionality, constructability, schedule feasibility, and cost optimization
  • Coordinate closely with Design, Construction, Launch, Operations, and external partners to proactively identify and mitigate project risks
  • Serve as escalation point for complex permitting, jurisdictional, landlord, or design challenges impacting project delivery
  • Present budgets, schedules, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership and executive stakeholders
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing cost, shortening timelines, improving launch readiness, and enhancing standardization across programs
  • Ensure projects transition seamlessly from pre-construction into active construction and launch phases

About the team

This role offers the opportunity to help define the future of rapid delivery infrastructure at massive scale while leading a high-performing team in a fast-moving environment.

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
