A CRT licensed Senior Mammography Technologist performs screening and diagnostic breast imaging and procedures. The Technologist produces ACR quality images in both diagnostic and screening exams. This technologist is able to interact with clinicians and other departments to coordinate patient care. The Technologist ensures clinical data is correct and appropriate in the Radiology Information System (RIS) and PACS systems. The technologist must participate in performance improvement activities in the department. Maintains appropriate quality control records and participates in routine equipment testing and maintenance. Additionally, the Mammography Technologist must be willing to train and interact with students and new hires when necessary.
The Principal Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing screening mammography, diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound and all interventional and invasive procedures in the Mammography Department and serves as a resource for the Imaging technologists in the Breast Imaging department. The Principal Technologist may suggest changes in procedures, and quality improvement, as well as coordinates training and development of the Mammography Technologist. In addition, this position demonstrates mastery of all hospital or clinical imaging competencies. This position also independently performs procedures on adults, geriatric and adolescent age groups. The Principal Technologist provides input for annual performance evaluations, and coordinates equipment basic maintenance as required. Complies with all regulatory mandates for mammography.
