Senior Process Engineer

Cincinnati, OH | Full-Time | On-Site | First Shift

About the Opportunity

A growing manufacturer in the Cincinnati area is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to lead process optimization, manufacturing improvements, new product introductions, and technical support initiatives within a dynamic production environment.

This role serves as a key technical resource for the facility, partnering with operations, maintenance, quality, engineering, and customers to improve manufacturing performance, troubleshoot complex process challenges, and support long-term growth initiatives. The position offers significant visibility within the organization and the opportunity to drive meaningful improvements in safety, reliability, productivity, and product quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead process improvement initiatives focused on safety, production efficiency, quality, and reliability.
  • Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support for manufacturing operations.
  • Support the development, scale-up, and commercialization of new products and processes.
  • Partner with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure successful product implementation and ongoing operational support.
  • Plan, organize, and execute plant trials, process validations, and manufacturing tests.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation including process flow diagrams, P&IDs, SOPs, work instructions, control plans, and related technical documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve raw material utilization, yield, throughput, and overall process performance.
  • Support capital projects from concept through implementation.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, quality, and leadership teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering and operational personnel.
  • Participate in strategic planning efforts related to manufacturing and process improvements.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years of process engineering experience within a chemical manufacturing or related production environment.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations through troubleshooting, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of process design, process documentation, and manufacturing systems.
  • Experience leading projects and influencing cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

  • Experience within specialty chemicals, food ingredients, industrial chemicals, liquid processing, blending, or related manufacturing environments.
  • Customer-facing technical support or contract manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with capital project planning and execution.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement training/certification.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, DCS systems, and advanced process control strategies.
  • Experience with process validation, risk assessments, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
