    Who You Are
    As a member of the Design Team at Kahoa , you are an industry expert and an integral part of delivering valued designs to our clients. You will work directly with key stakeholders, engineers, project managers and many others to bring your designs to life and together build top of the line experiences and real-world custom software from start to finish. 
     
    At Kahoa , you will have the opportunity to stretch your design skills from project to project. You will be faced with new challenges and experiences as you work with differing clients who come to us with design problems to solve. As a product designer, you will be the design expert in the room and user advocate for the teams you engage with. You will work directly with senior product owners and even executive client leadership. You are a natural problem-solver and enjoy being involved in multiple stages of a project from start to finish, but don’t necessarily want to be tied down to working on one internal product for the entirety of your employment.
     
    What You’ll Do
    • Work on a variety of teams ranging from independent to company-wide product groups, and in diverse contexts, including in house at Kahoa  or on site with clients.
    • Gather requirements and data when needed, understand business and user needs, and provide solutions in the form of elegant and intentional design artifacts ranging from sketches to wireframes to high-fidelity user interfaces and/or design systems. 
    • Help run design sprints with groups of 5-7 people, either internally or with clients.
    • Write user-focused tests and administer them to then follow up with creating the necessary artifacts to match the desired outcomes. 
    • Analyze and present findings from tests to clients and other key stakeholders in a clear, actionable, and helpful way.
    • Explain your design decisions in an informed manner rather than relying on personal taste to create effective solutions within client constraints.
    • Collaborate effectively with other product designers, frontend developers, backend engineers, product owners, project managers, executive teams, and client customers.
    • Work efficiently and be able to accurately estimate and communicate your design efforts.
    • Constantly learn and improve your skill set while staying up-to-date with trends and industry standards in your craft.
    • Communicate professionally and transparently.
    • Finish what you start.
     
     
    What You Have
    • Strong portfolio of work with multiple shipped products under your belt demonstrating your process and a commitment to human-centered design principles.
    • 5+ years experience in designing digital products and/or experiences.
    • Exceptional design skills, with an eye for production value and attention to detail.
    • Solid understanding of visual design fundamentals.
    • Proficiency with relevant design tools and applications.
    • Experience presenting work in front of clients clearly and concisely. 
    • Deep commitment to solving complex problems.
    • Understanding of common software development best practices. You’ve worked closely with developers.
    • Self-motivated and self-managing. You care about learning and improving your craft.
    • Other relevant design experience is always welcome, but not required: animation, marketing & advertising, branding, illustration, videography, photography, etc.
