Ready to own the most economically critical surface in conversational commerce?

Alexa for Shopping drove billions in incremental sales last year, converts at 3.5x the rate of traditional keyword search, and was used by millions of customers. Shopping Actions - add to cart, checkout, purchase - is the economic engine that makes it all work.

This is not a "nice to have" feature team. This is core to economics. If customers can't buy, nothing else matters.

If you want to own the single most critical conversion surface in conversational commerce, keep reading.

Alexa Shopping is redefining how hundreds of millions of customers purchase products through conversational and multimodal experiences. The Shopping Actions team owns the core transactional layer - enabling customers to add to cart, checkout, and complete purchases seamlessly across Alexa-enabled surfaces (voice, screen, app, web).

We are looking for a tenured, technically strong PMT who is an AI-native builder. You will own the end-to-end Shopping Actions experience, driving product vision and execution while partnering across multiple engineering and science organizations. You'll leverage AI/ML tooling in your own workflows to move faster, analyze deeper, and ship products that delight customers leveraging conversational shopping AI.

You'll be joining a team with tenured Amazonian leadership - leaders who are technically deep, operationally excellent, and have a track record of growing their people. The leadership chain from your manager through the VP is composed of builders who understand the technology, can whiteboard architecture with you, and are invested in your career trajectory.

Key job responsibilities

  • Own product vision and roadmap for Shopping Actions (Add to Cart, Checkout, Purchase Completion) across voice, visual, and multimodal surfaces
  • Define, instrument, and self-serve metrics - build your own dashboards, write queries, and analyze data to drive decisions without waiting on analytics teams
  • Write crisp product requirements (PRFAQs, BRDs, tech specs) that unambiguously translate customer problems into engineering-ready solutions
  • Operate across organizational boundaries - influence and align engineering and science teams spanning multiple L10 organizations; earn trust and drive decisions without direct authority
  • Leverage AI as a force multiplier - use generative AI, automation, and modern tooling to accelerate research, analysis, spec writing, and operational workflows
  • Drive technical depth - go deep on API design, latency trade-offs, and system architecture to earn credibility with engineering partners
  • Own experimentation and iteration - design A/B tests, define success criteria, and rapidly iterate based on quantitative outcomes
  • Communicate strategy and progress to senior leadership through WBRs, MBRs, OP cycles, and ad-hoc reviews

About the Company

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
