Senior Production Planner
St. Paul, MN | Direct Hire | $80,000-$110,000 | Onsite
This role will be responsible for developing and optimizing production schedules, managing capacity planning activities, maintaining SAP planning data, and supporting efficient manufacturing operations. The Senior Production Planner will play a critical role in balancing customer demand, production capacity, inventory requirements, and supply chain priorities while partnering with cross-functional teams across the organization.

Senior Production Planner Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize production schedules to support pharmaceutical manufacturing operations, customer demand, and business priorities.
- Perform material requirements planning (MRP) and capacity planning activities using SAP PP to ensure production readiness and resource utilization.
- Maintain and improve SAP master data, including material masters, bills of materials (BOMs), routings, recipes, production versions, and planning parameters.
- Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Program Management teams to align production plans and priorities.
- Monitor inventory levels, material availability, shelf-life requirements, and supply risks while developing mitigation strategies.
- Support new product launches, technology transfers, process validations, engineering changes, and commercialization initiatives.
- Track planning performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve schedule adherence, inventory management, and operational efficiency.
- Provide production status updates, capacity assessments, and planning support to Program Management and Customer Service teams.
- Support packaging changes, artwork revisions, material transitions, and inventory management initiatives.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts focused on planning processes, SAP utilization, data accuracy, and manufacturing visibility.
- Support demand forecasting, supply planning, capacity analysis, and scenario modeling as part of the Sales & Operations Planning process.
- Partner with Procurement on inventory strategies, safety stock levels, and replenishment planning.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development support to Production Planners, Schedulers, and planning team members.
- Establish planning priorities and support execution of production schedules to meet customer and business objectives.
- Promote planning process discipline, SAP accuracy, and continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.
Senior Production Planner Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- 5+ years of production planning experience within pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
- 3+ years of SAP PP and SAP MDM experience required.
- Experience managing production schedules, capacity planning, and material requirements planning.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, inventory management, and supply chain processes.
- Experience analyzing production data and identifying process improvement opportunities.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within FDA-regulated or cGMP manufacturing environments.
- Experience supporting product launches, technology transfers, validations, or commercialization projects.
- Experience with Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing, batch production, or controlled inventory environments.
- Experience leading or mentoring planning team members.
