Department Summary:

Hughes Network Systems (Hughes), LLC, an EchoStar Company, is a leading provider of satellite products and services that recently announced disruptive in-flight entertainment and connectivity solutions for airlines. Hughes is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Program Manager - Aviation to join the aviation team. This position plays a pivotal role in leading critical programs in the aviation industry and is responsible for ensuring the successful implementation and launch of solutions for Hughes.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for, and manage, new and on-going programs which deliver new satellite connectivity systems to our customers
  • Orchestrate product development, aircraft certification and product delivery to ensure all customer requirements are captured and managed within the scope of internal and third-party supplier teams
  • Oversee linefit and retrofit programs to integrate connectivity systems seamlessly for installation during the aircraft production process or for post-delivery retrofit
  • Lead the overall relationship with airline customers and airframe manufacturers through the development and launch phase of the product lifecycle
  • Manage strong relationships with vendors, partners, and key stakeholders, providing regular updates and ensuring their needs and expectations are met
  • Work with internal stakeholders to implement rigorous quality control processes to guarantee the reliability, performance, and safety of in-flight connectivity systems
  • Identify potential risks in program execution and develop mitigation plans to drive risks to closure
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives to establish best practices within the organization
  • Anticipate and proactively address programmatic, technical, and implementation issues that arise during project development
  • Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring cost control and resource allocation
  • Develop and manage program schedules, ensuring on-time delivery of program milestones and products
Skills, Experience and Requirements:

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, aerospace, business administration, or a related field
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience
  • Prior experience managing phases of the aviation product lifecycle, including design, development, testing, certification, production, maintenance and support
  • Prior experience managing STC projects with FAA or EASA
  • Prior experience working with Airlines and OEMs and an understanding of their internal operations
  • Prior experience with tools such as Smartsheet, MS Project, Excel, MS Office Suite, PowerPoint and other project management software and tools

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in engineering, aerospace, business administration, or a related field
  • Ability to influence a variety of stakeholders to establish concurrence
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
