Sr. Program/Project Manager

JOB TITLE: Senior Program / Project Manager
 
LOCATION: Indianapolis, IN (Onsite 3 days/week)

JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a high-grit, results-driven Senior Program/Project Manager for a 12-month contract with a high probability of extension. You will assume oversight of 10–12 concurrent small technical projects currently managed by engineering resources. Your primary mission is to establish structure, enforce accountability, and drive delivery in an environment that requires immediate organization and strong leadership without direct authority.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Establish governance by taking over 10–12 active technical projects from engineering teams
• Create robust project charters, detailed project plans, and clear success metrics
• Standardize timelines and ensure technical resources consistently meet deadlines
• Own daily and weekly status reporting for stakeholders and leadership
• Identify project bottlenecks early and execute immediate recovery plans
• Drive delivery through proactive communication and accountability

REQUIREMENTS:

• 7+ years of Senior Project Manager or Program Management experience
• Proven history of managing infrastructure, engineering, or technical operations projects
• Mastery of project management frameworks (Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid)
• Expert proficiency in project scheduling tools (e.g., Jira, Smartsheet, MS Project)
• Strong leadership ability to influence technical teams without direct authority
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for clear status reporting
• Adaptability and comfort stepping into unorganized environments to build immediate structure
• A “whatever it takes” grit mindset to overcome obstacles and drive completion

DESIRED:

• Experience establishing governance and structure across multiple concurrent technical projects
• Track record of rapid recovery planning and risk mitigation in engineering environments
