Sr. Project Engineer

About the Role

Join a leading aerospace engineering team developing highly engineered mechanical systems for commercial and defense applications. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Senior Project Engineer who enjoys owning complex engineering projects from concept through production while working directly with customers and cross-functional teams. In this role, you'll lead new product development, manage customer-driven engineering projects, and serve as the primary technical point of contact throughout the product lifecycle. You'll collaborate with design engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to deliver innovative, manufacturable solutions that meet customer requirements and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead engineering projects from concept through production, ensuring successful execution across cost, schedule, and technical objectives
• Manage new product development and customer-driven product modifications
• Serve as the primary technical interface for customers, providing project updates and managing expectations throughout development
• Lead product qualification, validation, and manufacturing readiness activities
• Collaborate with design engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to deliver production-ready solutions
• Create, review, and maintain engineering documentation, technical drawings, and CAD models
• Ensure designs meet aerospace industry standards, regulatory requirements, and manufacturability objectives
• Support engineering problem-solving, product improvements, and continuous development initiatives
• Coordinate multiple projects while balancing technical priorities and customer commitments

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• 8+ years of mechanical engineering or project engineering experience within aerospace or other highly regulated manufacturing industries
• Experience leading products through the complete development lifecycle from concept through production
• Strong mechanical design experience with proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar platforms
• Experience with product qualification, validation, engineering documentation, and manufacturing support
• Strong customer-facing communication skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and technical discussions
• Excellent project management, organizational, and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Aerospace or defense industry experience
• Experience designing mechanical systems, latching mechanisms, locking systems, or precision mechanical assemblies
• Experience supporting manufacturing, product qualification, and production launch activities
• Familiarity with aerospace regulations, engineering documentation, and design control processes
• Proven ability to independently manage complex engineering projects while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams
