Sr. Proofer, Creative Marketing

Responsibilities Job Summary: As a Senior Proofer with Creative Marketing, you'll combine your passion for accuracy, consistency, and grammar to ensure error-free print and digital marketing. You'll help lead / update a database of common H-E-B-related proofing guidelines for the Proofing team to use for easy reference. You'll collaborate with copywriters, marketing managers, and other Partners and offer recommendations for readability and clarity. Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions: Communications: Ensures accurate and error-free print and digital advertising (e.g., weekly tabloids, inserts, newspaper ads, coupons, store signs, emails, web pages, web banners) Reads / compares proof of all versions of company's advertising to copy or job brief as needed Maintains relationships with marketing managers to cross-reference / verify ad information Applies H-E-B branding knowledge to proof copy for consistency and established standards Communicates ad layout and text revisions to appropriate Partners prior to printing Maintains contact with outside vendors to ensure necessary ad changes are made Gathers background information to define / clarify objectives of writing or proofing projects Helps coordinate Proofing team workflow Assists with new-Partner training Verifies work of Proofing team members Assists with cross-functional proofing needs as assigned The responsibilities and essential functions outlined above describe the general nature and level of work assigned to this position. Qualifications & Key Requirements: Work Experience: 5+ years of experience in proofing Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Working knowledge of food writing, retail design, and typesetting Strong verbal / written communication skills Strong grammar skills Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, Internet, and email Ability to coach and mentor Attention to detail Education: A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience Licenses/Certifications: Physical Demands & Working Conditions: Function in a fast-paced, retail, office environment Work extended hours; sit for extended periods The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Partner encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
