Job DetailsOur client is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to oversee the day-to-day accounting activities for a portfolio of commercial real estate assets. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing property performance, managing cash activity, and supporting key reporting requirements. The assigned portfolio may vary based on property complexity, transaction volume, and business needs.
Essential Duties
- Maintain accurate financial statements for an assigned portfolio of commercial real estate assets.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and variance analyses.
- Manage weekly cash activities, including check runs and tenant communication regarding rent timing.
- Perform monthly partnership distribution and cash call analyses.
- Partner with property managers to review property financials, performance, and outstanding issues.
- Complete quarterly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Review capital expenditures across the assigned property portfolio.
- Prepare quarterly cash flow forecasts.
- Assist with annual property budgeting.
- Support annual CAM reconciliations for tenants.
- Assist with annual tax return preparation and audit requirements.
- Contribute to ad hoc accounting and property management projects as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3–7 years of accounting experience, preferably within commercial real estate.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and succeed in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of actual-to-budget variance analysis.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with MRI or similar property accounting software is a plus.
