Senior Purchasing Agent – EPC / Construction

About the Role:
The Senior Purchasing Agent supports large-scale Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects by leading procurement execution for major equipment and serving as the primary liaison between the Project Management Organization (PMO) and procurement. This role is responsible for purchase orders, contract terms, and commercial negotiations, while ensuring alignment between vendor deliverables and project requirements.
The Senior Purchasing Agent acts as a subject matter expert (SME) for major equipment procurement and provides independent visibility into procurement status, risks, and vendor performance across all PMO projects.
What you'll do:
- Serve as the primary procurement liaison for PMO project teams, aligning procurement activities with project schedules and priorities
- Lead procurement of major equipment packages (e.g., BESS, generators, switchgear, transformers, SCADA), including RFQs, vendor coordination, and scope alignment
- Own purchase order execution and lead commercial negotiations covering pricing, delivery, payment terms, warranties, and risk allocation Ensure alignment between vendor proposals, negotiated terms, and project requirements
- Maintain strategic relationships with key vendors and provide insights on pricing trends, lead times, and supply chain risks
- Proactively identify procurement risks, schedule impacts, and cost-saving opportunities across projects
- Maintain centralized procurement tracking (RFQs, fabrication, delivery) and provide independent status reporting to PMO, procurement leadership, and executives
- Coordinate with Quality Control (QC/QCM) to support submittal timelines and ensure procurement deliverables meet project specifications

What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field preferred
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
- 5–8+ years of procurement or purchasing experience, preferably supporting EPC, construction, or infrastructure projects
- Demonstrated experience procuring major equipment or long-lead items in project-based environments
- Strong contract negotiation and vendor management skills, including commercial term development and risk mitigation
- Experience working cross-functionally with project management and engineering teams
- Solid understanding of procurement lifecycle within EPC or capital project environments
- Proficiency with ERP or procurement systems
- Experience supporting utility, renewable energy, or electrical infrastructure projects preferred
- Familiarity with BESS, power generation, or substation equipment preferred
- Professional certifications such as CPP or CPPM preferred
- Knowledge of FAR, DFARS, or DCMA guidelines preferred

- Annual Salary range: $80,000 - $100,000 plus eligible to participate in Short Term Incentive Plan
