Overview:
A leading food manufacturing organization is seeking a Regional Engineering Manager to provide strategic leadership and technical oversight across multiple production facilities. This role will be responsible for leading engineering teams, managing capital projects and budgets, driving operational improvements, and ensuring engineering excellence across all assigned locations.
The Regional Engineering Manager will serve as a key partner to Operations, Maintenance, and Corporate Engineering teams to improve plant reliability, optimize manufacturing performance, and execute capital projects that support long-term business objectives. This position offers the opportunity to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams while influencing operational strategy, equipment innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple sites.
Job Duties:
Engineering Leadership & Team Management
Lead and develop engineering teams supporting multiple manufacturing facilities.
Manage direct reports across various engineering disciplines including Reliability, Automation, Strategic, Project, and Plant Engineering.
Ensure engineering resources are effectively allocated to support operational and capital project priorities.
Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management to engineering personnel.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Capital Projects & Strategic Planning
Manage annual capital expenditures of up to $50 million.
Develop and execute capital plans aligned with business and operational objectives.
Lead project prioritization, resource planning, and project execution activities.
Support equipment evaluations, technology assessments, master planning initiatives, and equipment selection processes.
Participate in equipment comparison testing, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
Partner with Operations and Maintenance leadership to identify opportunities for increased efficiency, reliability, and throughput.
Evaluate manufacturing and engineering processes across multiple facilities to identify gaps and drive improvement initiatives.
Develop and implement engineering best practices and standardized processes across locations.
Drive cost savings initiatives and operational performance improvements.
Technical Leadership
Provide technical expertise and guidance related to manufacturing processes, utilities, equipment reliability, and engineering systems.
Support troubleshooting of major equipment failures, process disruptions, and plant performance issues.
Collaborate with infrastructure and utility teams to ensure effective plant utility management.
Establish engineering standards and ensure consistent application across facilities.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local engineering regulations and codes.
Maintain engineering programs, policies, and procedures that support food safety, product quality, and workplace safety.
Lead cross-functional teams in the resolution of quality, safety, and operational issues.
Support continuous improvement of quality systems, food safety programs, and safety initiatives.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.
Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience within manufacturing environments.
Minimum of 2 years of engineering leadership, people management, or project leadership experience.
Demonstrated success managing capital projects and engineering programs.
Strong understanding of engineering economics and project justification.
Experience interpreting engineering codes, standards, and technical specifications.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Ability to travel approximately 50%.
Preferred:
Food manufacturing, food processing, or protein industry experience.
Experience managing multi-million-dollar capital projects.
Knowledge of manufacturing reliability, automation, utilities, and maintenance systems.
Experience leading engineering teams across multiple locations.
Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Operational Excellence experience.
