Optical Filters Design Engineer

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement optical filters which meet customer requirements for consumer electronics, bio medical devices, gas monitoring, fluorescence microscopy, astronomy, light sensing, projection display, and other applications.
  • Develop and/or improve processes for manufacturing optical coatings.
  • The assignment will encompass optical coating design, substrate preparation, substrate / wafer handling, vacuum-based coating processes such as sputter deposition, post-coating optical metrology, and other processes.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum B.S. in Material Science, Physical, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Optical Engineering or related field.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interaction skills.
  • Analytical thinker; detail oriented; problem solver.
  • Proficient with computers: strong proficiency with MS Excel and Office required
  • Experience in vacuum engineering, vacuum processes, thin film deposition and optics highly desirable.
  • At least 10 years of experience required
  • Must be U.S. Persons as defined by ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. Person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. "Green Card Holder"), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Additional / Desired Qualifications:

  • Graduate / Advanced degree preferred
  • Expertise in Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)
  • Familiar with a Cleanroom work environment
  • Programming skills: especially experience with MatLab or similar programming tools desirable.
  • Project Management
