Overview

A leading manufacturing organization is seeking a Senior Safety Engineer to support and strengthen its safety, health, and environmental (SHE) programs. This onsite role plays a key part in driving a proactive safety culture where incidents are preventable and risk mitigation is a shared responsibility. The Senior Safety Engineer will develop, implement, and maintain safety and environmental programs aligned with regulatory requirements and international standards.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and drive a culture where safety incidents are preventable through proactive risk identification and mitigation
  • Develop, implement, and publish safety and environmental programs aligned with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Design and deliver safety and environmental training for associates, supervisors, managers, contractors, and visitors
  • Conduct job hazard analyses (JHA) and ergonomic assessments to identify and reduce risk
  • Analyze incident and loss data to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions
  • Review, interpret, and update site standards, policies, and practices to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations
  • Support and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification requirements
  • Assist with accident and incident investigations and develop preventive measures
  • Evaluate new technical developments for applicability to manufacturing processes
  • Maintain required records and prepare reports to meet corporate and regulatory standards
  • Audit safety and environmental program implementation by affected personnel
  • Coordinate and support emergency response planning and activities
  • Participate in audits and inspections to ensure compliance with internal objectives and regulatory requirements
  • Actively participate in Safety & Environmental Committee activities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Safety, Health & Environment, Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of hands on experience in safety and environmental roles within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to diverse audiences
  • Self motivated, confident professional with a collaborative, team oriented mindset
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulatory requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting sustainability or environmental compliance initiatives
  • Prior involvement in ISO certification audits and continuous improvement activities
  • Strong analytical skills for trend analysis and risk assessment
