About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Wholesale Sales Engineer - Hyperscale to support strategic wholesale sales efforts with hyperscale and large-scale infrastructure customers. This role serves as a key technical partner to the sales organization, leading customer-facing discussions, identifying business and technical requirements, and developing scalable network solutions that align with customer needs and company objectives.
The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of technical expertise, consultative selling ability, and executive presence. This individual will be comfortable engaging with customer engineering, operations, and leadership teams while collaborating internally across Sales, Product, Engineering, Service Delivery, and Operations to drive opportunities from initial discovery through solution handoff.
What Youll Do:
- Partner with Wholesale Sales to support strategic customer opportunities, with a focus on hyperscale and other large wholesale accounts.
- Lead customer-facing technical meetings to gather requirements, understand network needs, and define solution scope.
- Develop and present customized technical solutions across services such as dark fiber, wavelength, Ethernet, DIA, transport, and related infrastructure offerings.
- Serve as the primary technical advisor during the sales cycle, translating customer requirements into practical, scalable, and commercially viable solutions.
- Support technical strategy for large, complex, and multi-site opportunities, including infrastructure builds and high-capacity connectivity solutions.
- Collaborate with internal teams to validate feasibility, develop solution designs, and support pricing, quoting, and proposal development.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations, solution overviews, and design reviews for both technical and executive-level audiences.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, and requirements early in the sales process to improve execution and customer experience.
- Ensure accurate documentation and a smooth transition from presales design to service delivery and implementation teams.
- Maintain strong customer relationships by demonstrating credibility, responsiveness, and technical leadership throughout the sales lifecycle.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 5+ years of experience in sales engineering, solutions engineering, network engineering, or technical presales within telecommunications, fiber infrastructure, or data networking.
- Experience supporting customer-facing technical sales engagements for complex network or infrastructure solutions.
- Strong understanding of wholesale telecommunications services, including fiber, dark fiber, wavelength, Ethernet, transport, and IP-based connectivity solutions.
- Proven ability to gather customer requirements, design technical solutions, and clearly communicate recommendations and tradeoffs.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting hyperscale, cloud, carrier, or other large strategic infrastructure customers.
- Familiarity with data center connectivity, route diversity, capacity planning, and large-scale network deployments.
- Knowledge of wholesale commercial constructs such as IRUs, custom builds, and complex solution structures.
- Strong consultative selling, problem-solving, and relationship management skills.
