Job Summary:

Panasonic is seeking a Sr. Sales Strategy Engineer, to support Mobility Energy Business Division’s (MEBD) customer-facing technical strategy, cell development roadmap alignment, and expansion into emerging battery applications.

 

This role partners with automotive and non-automotive customers, U.S. and Japan engineering teams, Sales Engineers, Program Managers, and commercial stakeholders to translate customer and market needs into technical direction, product development priorities, and effective customer communications.

 

Essential Duties:

Customer Engagement & Technical Communication:

• Engage with customer engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to understand needs, resolve product development issues, and effectively communicate priorities to internal stakeholders.
• Travel to customers and Panasonic locations for technical meetings, as needed.
• Build relationships with new and potential customers, including those outside the automotive industry.

 

Product Development & Engineering Strategy:

• Collaborate with Japan and U.S. engineering teams to manage development projects and ensure cells meet customer requirements.
• Analyze cell data, cell teardown findings, and related technical inputs to inform specifications for cells under development.
• Support development projects with current and prospective customers.
• Understand and synthesize customer needs and roadmaps to influence Panasonic’s cell development programs.

 

Market Strategy & Emerging Applications:

• Identify and evaluate opportunities for non-EV battery applications, including satellites, humanoid robots, eVTOL, drones, and other emerging markets.
• Translate customer, market, and emerging application insights into cell development priorities with U.S. commercial/strategy and Japan engineering teams.

 

Internal Collaboration & Technical Leadership:

• Develop junior Sales Engineers’ technical knowledge related to lithium-ion batteries.
• Lead internal understanding of warranty and guarantee considerations for cells intended for multiple market use cases.

Qualifications:

Requirements - Required and/or Preferred

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field.

Preferred:

• Graduate degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field.

 

Essential Qualifications:

• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in lithium-ion battery design, production, material sourcing, or related EV/battery industry work.
• Excellent English communication skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and presenting complex technical information clearly.
• Ability to synthesize technical information, customer needs, and market trends into clear recommendations while managing stakeholder relationships and competing priorities.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and respectfully across U.S./Japan teams and influence stakeholders to drive work to completion.
• Understanding of lithium-ion battery applications within and beyond the electric vehicle market.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience analyzing cell data and presenting technical recommendations to senior or highly technical audiences.
• Ability to mentor and educate junior Sales Engineers on lithium-ion battery technology.
• Knowledge of industrial and quality tools such as DOE, Fault Tree Diagrams, 8D, APQP, and PCR.
• Japanese language fluency strongly preferred.

A respirator fit test will be required based on functional area.
